I had the same problem on the 50pk CD-R's.

Rebates are not worth the hassle. You are, in essence, giving these thieving companies interest free loans on the off chance that they might find it in their hearts to pay you back some day. If a deal needs a rebate to make it Hot, that's a deal I'll always pass by... unless it's a Costco rebate. They're a stand up, no hassle company and pay very quickly.

I don't agree.
It is basically OM who is not worth it.

They screw people with substitutions (in store) which are not eligible for rebates or deny left and right even if all is in order.

Bottom line: avoid OM.

I stayed away from black friday, and at OM is seems worse. The have so many FAR stuff that requires 2 MIRs that it's not worth it. And the companies they contract with are the slowest to send out your check. Here is my last OM purchased item:

Fuji - CD-R 80Min 48x 30-Pack Spindle - October 2003 Promotion
Rebate Check: $6.00
Documents Received: 9/25/2003
Your rebate is valid and is in the final stages of processing.

It's been 12 weeks and their still processing it? Last month they sent me an email telling me that my other rebate check was mailed and to allow 2-3 weeks before I would get it. It took 5 weeks. I suspect from the day I mailed this rebate to the day I get it will be close to 18 weeks. And on the rebate check will be a line that says, "You could have gotten this check 2 weeks earlier if you filled out the online form." Whick I did easierrebates.com :(

Don't waste your time. I got burned with many OM rebates and their HQjust made things worse.
Last time there was b*tch who would just hang up on me and be quite rude.

I filed complaints with the FTC and BBB, but OM didn't even care to resolve it.
Simply boycott them.
And warn others about them.[/quote]

Not a bad idea... not at all. :)

I got rejected for "invalid UPC code" on a 4x CDRW disk 50-pack Khypermedia rebate from OfficeMax last month. This was a dual rebate and I was forced to send a copy of the UPC for one of the two. I sent a resubmission following the instructions on the web site. OfficeMax rebates have generally worked well for me. This is the first time in a while I've had to follow up. OM rebates are almost always paid within 2 months. Contrast that with Frys, where most don't get paid until you call and complain. Rebates require a ton of patience. Always keep scans/copies of everything for these situations. If that's too much work, you're better off not bothering with them.

I just called 1-888-213-9918 after the wesite http://www.trackmyrebate.com/Khypermedia said I had invalid upc code, and surprisingly (or thanks to everyone else who already called) they said it was their mistake and they put in some kind of request, and I should know in a week if its approved. The CSR said it should be approved and then I'll get my rebate in 4-6 weeks.

I'm not going to deal with OM any more, especially if it involves a rebate. I've been doing this kind of stuff for 3 years religiously now and they are by far the worst and getting worse.

I had back luck with a Parago rebate at CompUSA back in August. They "claimed" that I didn't purchase the right product for the promotion. I resubmitted all info, still nothing. I recently filed a claim with the BBB against Parago, but have not received a reply. No more rebates through Parago for me ...

Just checked my Khypermedia rebates @ rebatesHQ. They finally showed up, and looks like it's valid, and in the final stages of proessing. $17 rebates, for 100pk CDR + 10pk DVD+R ($12 + $5). So everything is okay here.

You should contact the store you bought your product from. Parago is nothing more than a processing center.

If you get no recourse with the store, talk to someone in corporate. You'll either get a refund from the store, or your really will be approved really fast. (Both of these from personal experience).

Parago rejected my $9 rebate from BF CrapUSA Targus mini scroll mouse saying that the store # I bought it at was not participating. That was news to me since I have the ad I picked up at that store and the rebate form was printed at the store when I bought it. After 3 angry letters, I asked them to tell me where it was communicated to consumers what particular stores were participating. Since this was a national ad, of course, there never was any list of participating stores advertised. They approved my rebate. There was absolutely no justification for them not to, but they still tried. Parago is suX0R!

they go through the same people.

It doesn't help when so many rebates need to be sent X days after order and it takes X-1 days for the UPC (ie, your purchase) to arrive.

REBATES SUCK!

PS - I might add that they pulled the "wrong UPC" thing on me. Yeah, I sent them the wrong UPC for the wrong rebate they were trying to give me. I hope the feds get around to squishing these slimy rebate deals some day.

Amen brother!!!

I am 100% against rebates...usually stores running rebates have the base price well above the price I can find on pricewatch.com through an etailer. Then I basically front more money for an item then I would had to pay on the etailer but 10-20 bucks less if I get the rabtes...the problem is 8-10 weeks later I get the rebate if I get it at all...

Unless it is a screamin deal like the BB and the Liteon 411 dvd-r/-rw/+r/+rw drive where I can save 30 bucks or 25% value ovr online price I am like no thanks I don't want to worry over the 15-20 I could have saved versus paying for it online...Usually by the time I get the cash back the item is selling for less then what the after rebate price was...

Thats the reason that stores sell things with rebates instead of just at the flat out price. a certain % of people will not fill out the rebates, and a % those that do will fill them out wrong. But you already bought your product.

I got the same stuff you did (the cdrw drive and the 100pk cdr's.) and they rejected one of mine also. I called the 888-213-9918 and spoke with a CSR. He said that both rebates needed to be on the same form to keep from having their system reject witchever rebate comes in second. He combined the two rebates into one $20 rebate for me.

Of course there are two more rebates for these products going to Office Max for $32 and $8, this has nothing to do with them.

My last 3 OM rebates have been a fight - 1st on they said they never received - I had proof of delivery! - 2nd one incorrect UPC - you know how we are about sending the correct ones. Makes one want to stop spending $ at OM.

The good part is they did come through after calling in.

Prompted by this thread I checked on the web, and my $12 100 CD-R rebate was listed as " $5 DVD-R rebate rejected for wrong UPC code". I called and the CSR changed the rebate to the correct item and amount.

Check yours!

Can someone set me up with a link to Officemax's website where I can check the status of my rebate? I've searched the site and can't seem to come up with anything.
