Paperboy

I was when I was 11 or 12. Had a route on my street and some apartment buildings next to it. Was just something to do to get soe extra cash. Most days were fine but certian holidays with gigantic papers sucked.

game?

You must be only like 12 or 13 if you don't know what paperboy is.

And this video would obviously confused the hell out of him:

Too bad the guy didn't start chucking his papers at the people. that would have been hilarious.

i had routes 2 times

it was nice getting some $ at that age, i made about $50 a month (late 70's)

getting up early sucked, but i was lucky that when it was butt cold/snowing my mom would drive me. i need to thank her for that again

did i like it? well, the worst part was collecting from the jack holes that were jack holes. and you had to go around occasionally with the district manager (whatever he was called) and bang on doors for subscription drives.

it wasn't something i could do for too long. i think i had the first route for a year and the second time i had one for 8 months, i forget

and i had a friend that had a route for 4-5 years , i would substitute for him when he went out of town or was dead/sick

yes I was a paper boy. i bought a special backpack that could hold 200+ papers. I sued to ride my bike up and down 2 or 3 streets in my immediate area and toss them. A couple of the streets had hills so it was certainly a tiring esapade considering I wsa also playing sports every day at the time. Coming home from football practice and having to ride my bike with 70 pounds on my back up hills with one hand steering and the other tossin papers was not a cup of tea. I got paid like 50 bucks every 2 weeks. I got paid extra if there were inserts. I had to bag the papers myself.

Nope but I had a couple different friends that were, so I spent some early mornings folding papers and going along on the routes.

Yeah, I had a route in high school before I started working at Kmart. It was only one day a week so I only made about $25/week, but money's money.

Yes. From 1973 to 1978 I delivered newspapers after school. I had a lot of customers, it took about an hour and a half on my bicycle. I had to assemble, fold, and wrap them myself. The money was great, especially at Christmas time!
