Papa Murphy's

Just had some Papa Murphys pizza for the first time. They're popping up around town. Just realized today that they don't actually bake pizza there and all of their pizzas you need to take home and cook yourself. WTF. Interesting none the less. The pizza is just mediocre though, and pretty expensive considering they don't do any baking. *shrug* nice folks there anyways.

Better than anything else for the money, except for Costco pizza. To beat Costco pizza, you need to spend triple the money anywhere else.

One of the few places to get a taco pizza around here. I like em, their chicken Alfredo is also pretty damn good.

Agreed. Compared to pizza hut, dominoes, et. al. you get a much better pizza for your money.

Had Papa Murphy's around for ages and ages. I remember before they were bought out and were called Papa John's or some shit.

I dunno, they're pretty cheap compared to ordering from Domino's. You get a really big pizza for $5-10 that is equivalent to 1.5-2 $10 large pizzas from most places.

For $2 more I will get cooked papa johns pizza.

It's more than $2 more and it tastes worse. Are you really too lazy to turn on an oven?

The secret to Papa Murphys is to overcook the pizza a bit.

Add 10-12 minutes to the cooking time. It makes the crust super crispy, and it crisps up the pepperoni a bit. If you do that, it's pretty kick ass.

Cook time is only 10-12 minutes to start with for a regular one, I can't imagine doubling that would turn out well.

dude... papa murphy's = the shit.

sooooo good. beats pretty much any pizza i've had in a long time.

so what's the deal with the take 'n bake deal? Any reason they don't use an oven like any other pizza place?

It allows them to run their shop like a Subway with all the ingredients ready to build a custom pizza but the carry out customers don't have to wait around for it to cook. Also, for usuns who live in the boonies, carry out pizza is cold before it gets home so tanke and bake works better.

So it can be fresh baked when you eat it?
Also makes it slightly cheaper here as unprepared food is not taxed. The newer one I just checked out does have an oven on the premises, though.

My parents buy them when I am home visiting... they don't have PM's down here in Houston. I've been overall impressed with the quality of the pizza. Better than the big chains, and cheaper. Plus you can pick up the pizza any time, and bake it when you are ready, rather than ordering from somewhere and waiting an hour or two for your pie to show up.
