BECAUSE THE PIZZA SUCKS! You must have a real hardon for Papa, is all this focusing on race starting to hit home for you?

The pizza is not what I like, but, there are people that like lots of things I don't. I'm not so judgmental that because I don't like a food that I tell others not to eat it.

Also, the issue I had was not that you disliked their pizza. It was that you wanted people to not go there because the company was "shitty". That is not a judgement on their food, but, a judgement on the company because of a guy that was kicked out of the company. You want to try and punish this guy by hurting all the people that are not rich.

Ah, Mother Hubbard is fretting once again. Lol. Don’t you worry! If child rape didn’t kill Subway then kicking out Massa won’t hurt PJ.

Tonight’s episode was: “A Slice Of Racism!”

Papa John's will survive this controversy. The company will suffer some, but it will survive, just not as profitable as it could be and mainly because of the competitiveness of the business it's in.

Bottom line after all is maximizing the profit margin. Anything that hurts the ROI is of course verboten. From the moment Schnatter jumped on the Trump bandwagon and decided to use his position to politicize the company's working philosophy, he effectively prioritized politics over profit. That he repeated this, this show of arrogance and defiance against the aforementioned Rule #1 in favor of representing his personal views and personality while being THE Spokesman for all of Papa John's thus hurting the bottom line even further, well the outcome was pretty much inevitable.

It seems he got too big for his britches because of his riches as the saying goes and forgot or dismissed the fact that there is a higher purpose and calling than having his own personal opinions become the unintended(?) corporate-wide philosophy of the business.

The company might not survive if Schnatter schnats all over it and tries to force his way back in.

If it wasn’t so funny it would be sad, and if it wasn’t so sad it would be funny.

Papa John’s founder John Schnatter, who somehow made hundreds of millions of dollars without a shred of self-awareness (there’s hope for me yet, I suppose), has opted not to go away, count his money, and watch the value of his shares of Papa John’s stock continue to rise, due in large part to his departure from the company. Instead, Schnatter wants back in.

Via Deadspin.com, the Wall Street Journal obtained a letter that Schnatter sent to the Papa John’s board of directors on Saturday, which apparently attempts to revoke his decision to resign as the board’s chairman.

“The board asked me to step down as chairman without apparently doing any investigation. I agreed, though today I believe it was a mistake to do so,” Schnatter said. “I will not allow either my good name or the good name of the company I founded and love to be unfairly tainted.”

The letter came a day after Schnatter’s 28-minute radio interview during which he claimed that he was “pushed” to use a racial slur during a May conference call with a marketing firm — and during which he made clear his and the company’s disdain for NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. In the letter, Schnatter again admits to using the slur during the conference call.

During his radio interview, Schnatter downplayed the possibility of litigation against the marketing firm that he believes leaked his remarks because he “hate lawyers.” But they all hate lawyers until they need one, John, and it sounds like you’ll be needing a small army of them to help you get your hands back on the wheel of the company you decided to take public.

I live in a small town in NE GA of around 4500 people. Nice lake, 20 min. to Anderson, SC, 40 min. to Clemson, 45 min to Athens, 1 hr. to ATL and Greenville.

Had a PJ's open up several months ago. Closed in less than two weeks. Never in my life have I seen a business that couldn't maintain itself for at least a month.

Just had a Taco Bell open last month. Forget about going to it and getting out quickly at lunch or dinner time. Crowds are horrendous.

Our itty-bitty town even manages to keep one of the four smallest Home Depot's open...but not a brand new PJ's. PJ's pizza was that horrid..I swear Little Cesars did more business in an hour than that PJ's did in its two weeks of operation.

Same here, Dominoes does way more business than Papa Johns. Seen quite a few go out of business.

Strangely enough Dominoes has grown on me.

Spent many summers as a kid with the grandparents who lived in Anderson and on Hartwell.

I grew up in Augusta and spent every summer on Clark's Hill Lake. Dad belonged to a boating club that maintained a decent sized campsite with perm. facilities (showers, laundry, pavilion, docks, etc.)

Hartwell's nice. Got fiber laid in over the last few months. It's quiet. Lake's nice. Roads are better than in SC. MicroCenter and Fry's are an hour away.

Little Caesar's is an entirely different business, though. It's for when you want to feed a family of 6 for under $10.

and it’s not bad for what it is. Had a slice a few years ago at one but the local place closed decades ago.
I do remember being young and a bunch of us putting pocket change on the table and ending up with 2 large pizzas, some breadsticks and a salad plus a bunch of soda.

Yea, used to eat a lot of Little Caesar's when the kids were around. Haven't had a slice probably for over a decade.

Fuck This Guy, he voted for this. Fuck PaPa John yet again.

I’ve been noticing a lot of articles that google has been serving up that basically riff on “Company X has noticed this concerning trend in customers”.

I’ve got a feel that a number of financial and financial adjacent media are using AI to publish a bunch of similar stories.

I worked at Papa John's for a couple years. John Schnatter came to our store once. Instructions were strict, we had to scrub everything top to bottom and have everything perfectly arranged. When he was there we were not to speak unless spoken to. We were not to make eye contact. Be ready to do anything he said. When he arrived he was a complete asshole. He picked out any teeny tiny nitpick he could find. Like, the folded boxes are not perfectly aligned in the stack kinda stuff. He was followed around by a guy who looked just like him, same outfit, same hairstyle, but a little bit shorter and carrying a clipboard. That guy jumped at everything he said and dutifully took notes.

I was in no way surprised when it came out that he was a bigot and ass in other spaces. It was a thoroughly unpleasant experience.
