Sadly, there's no replacement for the LX3 or the LZ8/LZ10, but Panasonic still has quite a few interesting cameras. Here's the few I found most interesting:

I still can't believe they managed to fit a 12x zoom into a camera body the same size as the TZ5...

Lumix TZ7 (also known as ZS3):

1/2.33" 10.1 MP
Leica Vario-Elmar f/3.3-4.9, 25-300mm image-stabilized 12x zoom
720p AVCHD Lite @ 60 FPS
Stereo Microphone
Can zoom while shooting video
2.5 FPS for 5 frames at full resolution

Lumix ZS1:

Less expensive version of ZS3
-Same lens, smaller sensor, no AVCHD

Lumix TS1:
12.1 MP, 1/2.33"
Leica Vario-Elmar f/3.3-5.9 28-128mm with IS
Waterproof to 3 meters, dustproof, drop-tested at 1.5 meters
AVCHD 720P video

Lumix FX580:
12.1 MP, 1/2.33"
Leica DC Vario-Elmar f/2.8-5.9, 25-125mm zoom with IS
"Touch" AF-Point out the subject by touching the screen and the camera will focus where you touched
3" Touchscreen LCD
Shutter-Priority, Aperture priority, and full manual modes

I have the FX500. If the FX580 "Touch" AF is anything like it, look elsewhere because it's worthless.

Wow makes me wonder the how the IQ will look like when you are dealing with such a huge range....even with dslr lenses, super zooms aren't typically hot on IQ

I have TZ1 as well; the image quality on it is superb for a P&S even though it has a 10x zoom. I am actually more disappointed from my newer FX500 high iso IQ.

why would there be a replacement for the lx3 already?

i really would like Panasonic to simply their naming scheme.

so LX = elite creme la creme, and what are the rest (LZ, ZS, TS, and FX)?

LZ=Elite
FX=high end compact
TZ=superzoom in compact body
FZ=even more zoom than TZ but in a more mini-DSLR like body
TS=water resistant
FS=mid-grade compacts
LZ=budget compact, manual controls and other features over LS
LS=budget compact, bottom of the line

They do need to simplify their lineup haha

GH1 to be precise.

Fast contrast-detect AF during video.

Built-in stereo mic (and external mic jack).

1080p24 & 720p60

New 14MP CMOS.

Nothing confirmed yet, but it might offer more manual controls than the 5D2.

I re-arranged it a bit, only the L-series makes a "continunity" sense where X > Z > S.
the trend kinda continue onto the F-series, with the FZ as the oddity.

I only found out about this camera and it looks great for my purposes. Stills and Videos :)

I have a 5D to take pics I don't take that many pics, but it's fun to have and takes sweet pictures. I don't want to shell out for a semi decent HD video camera also. The benefit with the GH1 is my plasma screens plays video from SD cards natively so thats nice to have and it makes for fast uploads to my mac.

I wonder how much it'll cost?
