Panasonic Shaver 129.99 List 300 Free Shipping

Thanks Joker. I went ahead and got one of these. I was eyeing the Braun 7570 for the longest time but i decided to go with this. I read some reviews where people who bought this after using the 7570 liked this even more. Also this is wet/dry unlike the braun.

I was just considering a new razor - just picked this one up... used a coupon to get $10 additional off. Best price I've found other places is $159 plus shipping... thanks!

I've been looking for a good deal on an electric shaver forever, i was wondering whats better

This type of shaver

or the three blade shavers?

As you can see im new to shaving 😉

If you like the Mach3 then check into shaving oil. There are number of different brands out there, both on the web in the places like Target. I switched from shaving cream to shaving oil abou 6 years ago and will never go back. With oil, it just gets more slippery as you add water and the residual oil that gets on the blade helps protect it when not in use, thus making the blade last longer. I do shave in the shower, which requires one of those fogless mirrors though. Plus, a little 5oz bottle of oil can last 6-12 months, depending on how you use it.

Yea I agree shaving oil is pretty good. I have also found that I especially like the King of Shaves shaving products, they are well worth the money. Anyway I ordered the panasonic one after reading all the good reviews of it so I'll let you all know how it is when I get it!

Can anyone help me justify this purchase? The one I'm currently using sucks, but it didn't even cost half that much. $130 is a lot of money...must...resist...

I could use a new shaver, but it's hard to think of $130 being a good deal, no matter what it normally sells for. My current shaver is a Panasonic and it's given me great shaves for many years now.

The Amazon editorial review for this shaver is written by a woman. 🙂

They have a lot of reviews on Epinions for Panasonic Linear shavers, but not this specific model. I can't really figure out what the difference is between all of them since they really seem the same. I guess stuff like battery life meters and that sort of thing are what make the differences in model number?? Incidentally, I couldn't find this specific model on Panasonic's site either; maybe its been discontinued?

Hmmm..
anyone else think it's funny that the Amazon.com review for this razor was written by a woman? heh...

I might jupm on this deal. My current electric can't save close to save its life, but then again I've been blessed with thick, dark facial hair. Perfect for a pasty-skinned computer geek!

I got one of these things and have been using it for the past 10 months or so...

I had been using a Mach 3 before, and although it doesn't shave as close, it's certainly close enough that your skin is smooth and it's much faster.

If you get an electric shaver, make sure you get a wet/dry one like this one. having a cordless shaver that you can use in the shower or above the sink is sooooo convenient. You can also take this thing on the road without worrying about bringing the charger. I've gone at least a week (probably 2 weeks) without having to charge it.

Great price for this shaver...I've always seen it as $300 although I know I'd never pay that much money for a shaver...I probably wouldn't even pay $130 for a shaver. If I hadn't gotten mine for free, I probably would just stick to the Mach 3.

Boy do I have a lot of feedback on this.

I bought a Braun Syncro about 6 mo ago. It did shave
incredibly, but its self cleaning function though initally seeming
to work perfectly after a week I could see a buildup inbetween
the blades. I also wanted a cheaper way to get the fluid and
so I experimented with making my own. The cleaning fluid is
alcohol and I believe mineral oil. However it is not rubbing
alcohol which can't work anyway since isopropl alcohol is
only 70% alcohol the rest is water so oil can't possibly mix
with it. I ended up with a mess and took it back to the store
for a refund.

I then bought the Panasonic ES8067 which has its pluses and
minuses.

On the plus side this baby cleans up just as well and easily as
you can imagine. I only clean mine every 7-14 days and so
I sometimes get a little stuck which takes a 2nd soaping but
it always cleans like new. If you clean it every day it is so
easy and so like new each time.

On the shave I had read that the Braun was more for less
sensitve skin and the panasonic had a reputation for being
more gentle. Well the opposite was true between these two
shavers. The Braun Syncro was very tender and very fast and
very close. Just the cleaning made me very unhappy since dry
cleaning it didn't work for me either since its blades kept
catching the bristles of the cleaning brush making it frustrating
and slow.
...back to the shave, the panasonic (which I kept) felt like it
tore my face up the first time I used it. Wow, but it did shave
close, though maybe not as close as the Braun. I pulled out
two tiny springs that holds up a center cutting bar which was
what was nick-ing me and it was promptly converted into a
very gentle shaver. (Oh also with the foil off I removed the
tiny grey plastic thing that drove that center bar, it was really
easy). Now I just shave with its two foils. It is a very
comfortable shave which if done in a cool air conditioned setting
in a relaxed pace, this panasonic has shaved me so close (20
minute shave) that I didn't begin to feel stubble for 18 hours!
I'm pushing 50 years old too so these babies are whiskers!
On the daily shave I spend about 5 minutes and get a good-
enough shave. Nothing to rave about. But with the center
cutter muted it's comfortable and cleans up like a breeze.

The wet/dry factor is a farce though. Yes you can submerge it
briefly and take it right into the shower. But, if you read any
instructions for shaving with a foil shaver you will be harped
with tips to keep your face dry since getting it wet swells the
skin and this is true. If you wet shave with the panasonic
it will feel fantastic until an hour later when your face drys and
you have stubble already. It's a silly proposition, to shave
in the shower. Best thing is to shower and shave an hour later.
Your face will be at its best then.

Hope this helps!

Most every "guide to shaving" I've read mentions that you always shave right after you shower because the hot water will soften the skin and, more importantly, open your pores up. And this is true in my experience as well. I just happen to shave in shower because I don't have time to shave an hour after I shower. YMMV.

I agree that shaving in the shower is good because it opens the pores, plus you don't have to worry about cleaning up anything because it all goes down the drain. Women know this too as almost all of them that shave their legs do it in the shower as well.

As for the woman writing the review of the electric, I'm a Mach 3 & oil guy myself, but my wife long ago adopted my norelco because she finds the beard trimmer to be the quickest and easiest for shaving her beard too. One girl I used to date had whiskers thicker than mine, so you can expect that if a woman is giving the razor a good review it will probably work great on your face too.

I've been back and forth between Panasonic and Brauns. I have owned 6 shavers --3 Braun 3 panasonic and My general feeling has been that the brauns since the Flex series have always given cleaner longer lasting shaves. BUT, that the panasonics were always a close second, but always a joy to keep clean!! I currently have the top of the line Synchro and am really happy with the close shave, it is by far the best shaver I have ever owned.

BUT, I am really ticked off that Gillette has me on a Freaking subscription to clean my damn Shaver!!! 9.99 every 2-3 months equals another hidden 40-60 bucks a year!!! Which has me thinking about my old (easy to clean) Panasonic.

I too am intrigued about the LINEAR model, but the design doesn't look that different from many other of Panasonic's designs

If anyone wants to convince me I might sell my synchro...

As for for the person asking whether it's worth spending that much on a shaver.... All the higher end shavers straddle 100+ range with the exception of the 189.00 for the Braun. There are very few things you should spend a lot of money on, but a good quality shaver will last 4-7 years and will impact how people view you. Meaning, if you are using a cheap ass shaver that always leaves stuble under your chin and on your neck (always a problem area for me atleast.) it will ultimately reflect perhaps negatively on you. You don't have to go out and buy the most expensive shaver, but take some time to consider something that you will most likely be using almost 365 days a year.

i have this razor and it is awesome. i use it in the shower to shave my head. it is a closer shave than the MachIII on my scalp, and comparable on the rest of my face. i race bikes, and have begun using it on my arms and legs, and have no complaints. if the cost doen't bother you, go for it.

Wow!? $300 retail for a shaver? I think I could hire somebody for a year to come to my house and shave me for that much, and maybe massage me too. Is it made of gold and fine jewels?

The Panasonic Linears are great shavers and I have used one for about 2 years now. Paid around $120-$140 for it. I have never seen one sell anywhere for near list price, but 129.99 is average for an above average shaver.

A search on yahoo.com for "ES8003", brings up some hits. I too wonder why there's a price difference between the ES8003W and the ES8068N. Amazon also carries the ES8068N for the same price, but the difference in List Price is great $300 to $210.

J&R carries the ES8003W for $159.99

Shavers.com carries the ES8003W for $209.95

and

Shavers.com carries the ES8068n for $154.95

The best I can tell is that the ES8003 offers the "Three Dimensional Shaving System" while the other does not.

Sharper Image also offers this model for $299.95

I bought the predicessor to this shaver about a year ago. Hated it and went out and treated myself to a new Norelco at Costco. It's still in the back of my bathroom drawer, need to through it out...
