While we're on the subject of Amex price matching (well, sort of), how easy is it? Will the costco Amex price match? If not is Blue the only one that does? There have been many times I missed out on some good deals. If its a huge hassle that you take a gamble on I'm not interested, but if its easy and reliable then it would even be worth the annual fee.

yes i would also like to know more about the amex pm policy...does it only work with amex blue or is it all cards?
also, how long does it take and will they pm any website or only certain ones?
this is plasma hot if it works! 🙂
thanks in advance

Pricematch to $429

Not too bad. You pay 699.99, get a 200 rebate and then pricematch to 429.

699.99 - 200RB - 250PM + $56 tax (for me) = $305.99

The rub with staples' price matching:

>>>Available coupons and rebates will be deducted from the Staples price to come up with a net Staples price when calculating the price match. For example, if you buy an item from us for $100, and we offer a $20 rebate, the net price is $80. If the item is available from another company for $80 or more, there will be no price match. Another example would be if you buy an item from us for $159 and you have a $30 coupon the net price is $129. If the item is available from another company for $125, the price match will be for $4.40 (110% of the difference). <<<

APPLY A COUPON AND U SHOULD SAVE MORE
SINCE AMEX MAX PRICEMATCH IS 250

There is a 30 off 150 coupon lofting around the net.

using that should maxmize your savings.
and put the price down another 30 plus save u a little on tax.

🙂 To save a little more, use a one of the $40 off $200 coupons that are around, as well as a coupon for a free 5 inch black & white TV (item # 394457) worth $69.95.

<< NO point in wasting a Staples coupon code since AMEX will use the coupon in the PM eval >>

If I use the $40 off code my deal will be

699.90
-40.00 coupon code =
659.90
-230.00 AE Price match to 429.00
-200.00 rebate =
net $229.90 + tax

If I don't use coupon

699.90
-200.00 rebate
-250.00 Max Price AE match to 429.00 =

net $249.90 + tax

So it is definitely worth it to use the Staples coupon code

Unfortunately if add the TV and the $40 coupon your reciept will say Coupon credit = 109.95. Then when you try to pricematch to AE you have no proof of saying part of that credit was the 69.95 of the tv.

<< Help me out here... I do not see where it says "refurb" on the Pc rush site... 😕 >>

When I checked that link a few minutes ago I swear it said Refurb in the middle of the page but now it doesn't. Still better off using the $429 link.

could someone please answer me about the amex PM....does it only work with amex blue or what? how long does it take?
thanks in advance

<< could somebody show me how to pricematch & use coupons? thank you >>

I just applied the other day, however the card is still in the mail. I found the following link:

Link to Benefits

Scroll down to "Best Value Guarantee"

Best Value Guarantee
With the Best Value Guarantee, you'll pay the lowest price available on items purchased with the Card. If you see a covered item advertised in print for less than you paid within 60 days of the purchase date, we'll refund the difference to you, up to $250 per item. 3

The link in (3) is:

Link to 3 legalese

I don't know if this is right, but seems like it would be.

Good luck.

Thanks for the deal!!!

Amex PM question though,

If I send in the documentation, will they go to the staples website and see there is a $200 rebate associated with the purchase and then deny that amount of the PM?

I thought I read recently where someone was denied a PM because of a rebate?

If so, would it be wise at this point to wait until Staples website no longer has the rebate available then find another dealer at that time to PM?

I have had the card for two years and have never tried a PM, it's about time.....

Even though this is a relatively old camera it is still a good one. I bought one of these almost 2 years ago at the "mob shop" or "accompany" and turned around and sold it on etay for a $50 profit and have regretted it ever since.

When I first put up the PCRUSH link, I linked to a refurb product. I changed the link to a non-refurb product.

If anyone has successfully done the Amex pricematch please let me know. I'm a little worried about the $200 rebate which is in plain view on the Staples web page when the Amex CSR researches.

Thanks

Most people who attempt to PM with AMEX BVG and get denied are those who attempt to PM within a few days of making their initial purchase. BVG allows 60 days for a PM so there is no need to PM right away. wait unitil after 1/31/2002 when the Staples rebate expires and the rebate will no longer be on the product web page

I got this DV100 camera back in the summer when it had a $100 rebate. My final cost after rebate and a Blue PM was about $350 or so. It is a good no-frills MiniDV camera. The quality is great considering this is the lowest resolution CCD (440k)? Much better than my old VHS-C.

I personally like to buy video cameras that are inexpensive with minimal features. I'm not afraid to take a $350 camera anywhere I go. If I drop it or lose it, I'll get another one. On the other hand, I have a friend with a $2000 Sony DV cam and he is afraid to take it out of the house for fear of damaging it!!!

That is not true. I have PM with my Blue the very next day after the purchase and have not had any problems. I have PM with AMEX where there are rebates involve and never have had any problem. I'm not exactly sure what their procedure is when approving a PM, but I don't think they will check the source from where you purchase. They have a receipt of your purchase already.

Amex Blue is usually pretty quick with there PM, 2-3 weeks? So what I can suggest if make the purchase, and initiate a PM with Blue the next day. Wait 2-3 weeks and once you get your PM, then send the in rebate and you're good. Else return the camera if you don't want it. But be sure not to go pass the date required to send in the rebate.

Thanks for the deal!

Just got my Amex Pricematch check back for $230 which makes it $429 then I get back the $200 rebate which makes it about $229 plus $40 in tax.

I am so tempted to call Staples and get another pricematch but I'm sure Amex puts a red flag on the pricematched charge amount and if any credits are issued to the original amount then I will hear from them.
