Folks have that TV, it's very nice. One of the criteria for picking their new TV was how it looked with regular signals. The Mitsubishi monitors looked even nicer with HDTV feeds (imo, of display models, standard disclaimer) but the Panasonic looked better than the JVC/Sony/Mitsubishi when fed plain old NTSC signals. Since that's all they're watching at present and will still be 90% of what they watch for the next several years that was a big part of the decision. That it looks great with HD content is nice too 🙂

Edit: DirectTV being their main content source. Looked better than the other models with that being the comparison, not over the air for the obvious reason of differences in cabling/reception making display models impossible to judge.

Well, I found an offer for this TV through Amex's site for $1,198 Now it is out of stock at this site but since Amex has a Best Value Guarantee you might be able to get them to pricematch from this and purchase it from Circut City which is one of their shop Amex stores. Also, you will get the The Buyer's assurance Plan that will extend the basic warranty.

I think all Amex cards do this. The info was just on the general benifits screen. You can call 1-800-557-8317 and find out.

HDMI is backwards compatible with DVI, you just need a converter.

A major manufacturer bought almost the entire world stock of HDMI cables/connectors, so they're a bit scarce right now, but give it a few months.

BTW, you'll have to feed that TV either 480p or 1080i from your computer if you want it to recognize the signal.
