I got a 80mm Evercool Aluminum Frame Case fan at local Microcenter for $12.

Pockage state it has less than 25dba noise level w/ 29.18CFM @2500rpm. (last night's PSU conversion project keeping me wonder about Panaflo's 80L1A 21dba noise level w/24CFM @ 2000 rpm.

Today I went to local store and get the Panaflo L1A for amazing $15!!!!! (hell, I am curious)

after side by side comparison (no high tech, only my ear 😉 ) I can't tell the different!!!!!!!!!
Both are extremely quiet but Evercool draw 4cfm more hot air out of my case!!!!!!

So if you guys can get Evercool aluminum frame case fan at your local store, I highly recommend it!!!!!!!!!
Not only it looks cool, draw more air, and quiet, but it also create LESS virbration!!!!!!

EDIT: It is pretty much know if under 20dBA, it become hard to detect by human ear. So Mr.Insane3D just suggest me on these NMB fan that I will replace my PSU and CPU FAN w/adapter. If I am not happy with them, do remind me to make him eat all these fans! 😉

anyone know the specs of the ones that come with the antec 1030 cases? i want some that are more quiet with similar cfm... this fan here looks good but i don't know the cfm of the antec

Here is your answer. 🙂
I had Antec PSU w/ Smart fan also, but it is definitely NOT smart at all, that's why I have my PSU conversion project. -Insane3D's idea. (I wonder if smartfan ever go below 30dBA)

I have both fans (regular evercool 80mm, not the aluminum). The L1A is at 21 dBA whereas the evercool is at 25dBA. You probably cant hear the difference during the day, but during they quiet times (or at night) its pretty evident.

Try the Pabst 18dBA fans. Those are similar to the ones Dell uses, now those are inaudible, even in the middle of the night.

NO~~~~ must resist! ..............................too expensive for my blood..must resist.....

dell uses nmb...

i don't think the case fans i have are smart fans though. maybe i need to pop it out but i'm pretty sure theres no thermistor sticking out.

i think the case fan is this one 34 cfm and 30 db.

i think someone put 92 mm fans on their 1030... maybe i should try fitting one on there...

I said Dell fans were similar to Pabst [in dBA/CFM], not they ARE pabst.

I think 30 dBA is quite loud. I have some 27 dBA fans for my 1U Rack, and they appear to be pretty darn loud (could be that the rack enclosure resonates the sound in a weird way).

That's fine and all, but I only paid $2.50 for my Panaflos.

Good deal GoodRevrnd. I had to pay $25 shipped for 4 Panaflos,4 grills and 32 screws. Which still ain't to bad of a deal.

Insane3D knows what he's talking about. He convinced my to swap out the "smart fan" in my Antec 1040 PSU (PP412, IIRC) for one of the Vantec Stealth Fans I had bought. What a great idea!!! The PSU is almost whisper-quiet and moves just as much air as before. I highly recommend the swap. It's really simple to do and took me a whole 45 minutes, including soldering the power connector for the PSU fan (it has a "proprietary plug)) to the wires for the Vantec fan. Simple stuff.

Talk to him if you have cooling questions. Great ideas and a nice guy to boot. 🙂

Where'd (when'd) you get them for $2.50? I just bought mine today for $3.19

I'm thinking of replacing my PSU fan too. Though I'm not sure the low speed panaflo will compare with the Sparkle PSU fan, which pushes out a lot of air!

Now I am going insane....wait! someone already took that. 😉

Is there anyway I can covert stock Intel fan to even quieter level, when I open the case panel I can hear the HSF spinning!!!!!
(I don't think P4 HS use standard 60mm, it seems to be 70mm? according to the one I bought.)

BTW, where do you guys got all those fan for $2~3? And how much is the shipping?

I bought my panaflos from www.bgmicro.com. I assume that GoodRevrnd got them there too, but when they were cheap.. 🙂 I don't remember how much the shipping was, but it wasn't expensive enough for me to remember not to buy from them again..

the loudest fans i have are my case fans (ok, the loudest is actually the sunon 50CFM one on my processor rated at 40dBA) and i put them on the "fan only" lines on my truepower (that sucker is quiet, i had it plugged into a computer with just an intel retail p2 fan and it wasn't very noisy at all)... i'm wondering if a 92mm will fit if i take the fan bracket off. only one way to find out, i guess.

Has anyone run across a 120mm fan than is quieter than the Panaflo L1A 120mm?????
I was just wondering since I run three of these in my Lite-On fs020.
Thanks to anyone who responds.

They were on sale at svccompucycle ~2 months ago. Now they're $6.99 though. 😛 Shipping was maybe $4-5 for 10 of them plus 3 other larger fans.

Well according to this: www.directron.com/120l1a.html that fan is rated at 69cfm at 30db(A) [120x120x38mm is your fan size?]. Here is a chart of the 120mm papst fans: www.dangerden.com/images/fans/papst_spec.pdf [4200N-series] the quietest of which is 28db(A) and moves 59cfm.
