If the manufacturer's warranty on this is the same as my 50" Panasonic(50LC14) they will give you one year of bulb replacements if it goes out in the first year. I used an Amex Blue card which doubles manufacturer's warranties, so I should be ok on bulbs for two years. If you are considering this TV, try to put it an a credit card that does something similar.

I haven't seen this model in person, but if the picture quality is anything like mine, it is outstanding.

My wife and I looked at this TV too. It had decent reviews online and on avsforums. We were close to getting it, but the stand cost an additional $400 and the Circuity City sales staff was very unhelpful. But, I'm glad to see quality sets like this going for well under the 'magic' 2k mark.

A sign of good things to come i hope!

Rather than play a game of "customer fulfillment" at Best Buy, waiting a month to get the set, and having to pricematch, they just decided to get it tonight from CC at an already outstanding price.

Congrats, I am glad to see you gave CC the business.

Please just go buy it at CC guys...screw BB.

Personally I dont want to see my local CC go under because of BB so recently
I have swung most of my business there. They are making a good effort to
stay competative with BB.

There are 2 stands available, one for $399 and one for $289 from Techcraft. Get the $289 one, it looks exactly the same. As far as helpfulness, I hear ya there. But when you can do all the research yourself now, really all you need to do is go in and make the purchase.

Good luck getting BB to PM it though. Last time I tried to PM a TV the BB CSR went to take a '30min' phone call and came back to tell me the TV never existed at the other store (different model, etc.).

I just got this unit home, and Panasonic is giving 18 months replacement on the first bulb, so if you can double it with a card that would be the way to go.

As far as the value on this deal, the display is really great, $1299 great! My other TV is a 50" Diamond Mits... so I'm used to a nice display.... now to hook up my laptop to the Panasonic... Sweet!!

How did you find THAT out? I just might be interested again.
FWIW CC also has a Hitachi 42" 42V710 on their website for $1399 w/the stand. It looks like that TV is going for $1600 to over $2000 on the web without the stand. Just haven't been able to find much info (besides the specs) on this guy. CC doesn't even have this model on display. Any thoughts?

I believe this is last years model that they made a really good buy on, so they can sell them at a deep discount. I could be wrong, but my friend told me a Hitachi w/stand was going on sale the same day as the Pany, but it could have been a 50" he was referring too. I wanted the Panasonic so I wasn't really paying attention.

Got in on the Fry's deal for this. :D

BTW, I've already misplaced the manual - can somebody look up in their manual and tell me how to program the remote for my DVD player?

Thanks!

A friend bought a Sony 3LCD rear projection set (55") a couple of days ago and it has a great picture. It is my understanding that Epson developed the 3LCD system and Sony, Panasonic and others are using it. This TV ad mentions LCD, not 3LCD, so I wonder if it is the same technology that Sony is using. You can see how 3LCD & DLP technology works at 3LCD. From what I've been reading about 3LCD, it is supposed to be better than DLP. Do a Google for 3LCD and you can judge for yourself.

I got in on this one and am very happy. $1299 was a steal for this set. Curious to hear other opinions. This was my first HD set.

Just picked this up at Fishers, IN Fry's for $990 (I got the last one so Indy peeps don't need to check) - it was on clearance. Other peeps might want to check on this. :)

What are you smoking? They cost $99 now, just they charge us $300, and trust me that wont change. Look at 3 year old sets, the lamp prices haven't changed a bit. The lamps are a cash cow for the manufacturers, and that wont change anytime soon.

Dissuading review:

In the two years that I have owned my Panasonic Rear Projector LCD TV, I am now on my third replacement lamp. While Panasonic claims that they last 5,000 hours, I have not more than 900 hours on mine. Here is the kicker - they cost more than $300.00 each. Your better off staying away from this TV.

For about the same price you could get a TH-42PWD8uk Panisonic commercial plasma which, to most peoples eyes looks about a light year better. I know its an ED! The previous statement still holds true. If you can find one to look at, you decide.

8TH generation panel Proberties:

Panel half-life about 60,000 hours
Contrast ratio 4000 to 1
No bulb replacement
170 degree viewing angle
Much superior black level
Image retention about the same as a CRT
Easily calibrated with comprehensive adjustments not found on comsumer models
If it doesn't look better, see your local eye doctor

If you really want higher resolution spring for a TH42PHD

Well, the TV in question is $1299 not 1K and you can find the TH42PWD for about $1350 at a number of places some with free shipping. Amazon has these quite often with the free ship option, as does PC Connection. Search around and you can find one, right now they are in pretty short suppply after Christma, as is the 50".

I've bought 2 of the TV in question at 2 different times for $1k so as far as I'm concerned, it is $1k.

NEW SALE??

I just received a flyer from HHGregg that has a "Panasonic 44" LCD HDTV Digital Projection Widescreen" for $1297, limit 1. The picture includes a caption "HDTV integrated tuner." It doesn't have a model number.

I post a scan in a few minutes.
