Panaflo connector missing ... Help!

Hi!

I just bought a Cpu/heatsink and Panaflo fan from newegg to attach to an Asus A7N8X Deluxe motherboard. Unfortunately, the fan did not come with any sort of connector! It only came with a Red and a Black wire protruding from the fan. Was it supposed to come like this? How can I attach the fan and make it work on the motherboard?

thanks!

That stinks 🙁 Looks like you need one of these, or else get creative and scavenge a connector from an old fan, put heatshrink tubing onto the wires, then tin, solder and heatshrink them.

On the $2 tail I linked to, the small end plugs right into the pins that come out of the fan's motor hub, and the big end plugs into a standard hard-drive connector from your power supply.

Thanks mechBgon!!

Thats the second question of mine you answered in a couple days! I found the $2 contraption in an old case so i chopped it off the old fans wires, twisted the new and old fans wires together then electric taped the whole mess... and voila.. ghetto but functional!

Its not mentioned everywhere, but Panaflo fans come with bare wire leads. No connectors of any kind. Saves work if you are hooking them up to some types of fan controller though. Some places will install either 3 pin or 4 pin connectors for you for a couple extra bucks.

Not true. Yes sometimes they do come with bare wires, but most times they come with a two pin connector that can be modified to fit a 3 pin fan header on a motherboard or a 3 to 4 pin connector.
