I posted this in the original thread but apparently nobody saw it.

KDComputers now has their Panaflos on sale for $2.29 which is much less than SVC's current price. Shipping is high at first but if when you add more items, the cost will barely budge.
So, stock up folks!

Damn!! Looks like the SVC deal is finally dead. I KNEW I should have ordered the 10 for $25.00 package. Looks like a heck of a deal now! From the looks of the ratings, I'd say go for it. I think I will at least check out their shipping costs. SVC's was pretty nice. (he walks away kicking himself profusely). :|

Edit:
I just ordered from them and you are right; their shipping costs are high. However, ordering 10, I was able to get it down to $2.91 each (S&H included), so not too bad. Thanks for the heads up on this!

Good Deal. Just ordered 10... Total, with shipping came to $30. So, $3 a piece, not bad at all. :) Thanks!

This is a great deal! This site looks like it also has some other nice things, Alpha 8942T for only 35.00

Hey, what does it mean that the Panaflo 80mm L1a has "NO TACH LEAD ON THE FAN," and that it is only a 2-WIRE FAN, not 3-WIRE???? Just a question that I had before I commit to purchasing one of these. Thanks.

It means that a standard 3-pin connector is connected to the wire, but there isn't any RPM monitoring wire from the fan to the connector because Panaflos don't support RPM monitoring.

Not sure you needed all the extra BS in your post but to answer you question, it is true. The L1A panaflo fan does NOT have the "rpm monitoring" third wire. It has a 2 wire lead. That is a positive and a negative (black and red); no third, yellow wire that would monitor the rpm's of the fan. That said, many MB's wouldn't recognise it anyway as the rpm is too low. Don't worry. Just chill (pardon the pun) knowing you have a good quality case fan installed in your sytem (or others, since you ordered 10 ;) ).

I would like to know what are the advantages of panaflos. I heard they are quiet but I see that they are moving only 24 cfm which seems awfully little to me. What are the other advantages?

The reason we buy panaflos is because the ratio of their noise to air flow is very good. I personally have no problems with their "lower" cfm rating. I have replaced my psu, hsf, and case fan all with one. I bought a lot of 10 a few months ago..but I'm almost out now.

What I read on SVC site is that their generic 80mm fan has 33.5/28.3 ratio and panaflo 80mm has 24/21 ratio which means negligible worse but the price of SVC fans is substantially less. I am trying to make decision myself which ones to buy and it looks that I wouldn't have advantage with Panaflos.
Is there something else?

BTW, you can't always go by specs. One of my old thermaltake fans claims to be super quiet at high cfm..that is a FLAT out lie. Panaflos are quiet with decent air flow from experience. Do the generics have sleeve bearings? Panaflos have ball bearings. Keep in mind if you are overclocking then you do not want to use a slow panaflo on your hsf. But Panaflo does make a higher output fan aswell. Really the only VERY noticable difference I saw was replacing my hsf fan with a panaflo. I replaced the other fans simply because I like to tinker.

EDIT: You can get the Panaflos for $2.95 here or if you buy 12+ they cost $2.49.

Also you can buy a lot of 10 from here for $24.99 making them about $2.50 a piece.

Just giving out some more options.

I have no intention of making Panaflo my CPU cooler, else than for K6 but even there it would be to big of a fan. Anyway thanks for the links. CPU fans are like women, you cannot rely much on anything, sorry ladies. So because of ball bearing you expect they can last longer? Too bad I ordered few fans from svc already so I'll have to pass this though all three sales are attractive.

Actually Panaflo L1A's use sleeve bearings not ball bearings.. but it's not a standard sleeve bearing which tends to have a very short lifetime compared to ball bearings.. it's a very good design that immerses the sleeve in fluid making it's MTBF (lifetime) match most ball bearing fans and have the benefit of sleeve bearings which is lower noise than ball bearing designs.. it's the only sleeve bearing fan you'll ever see me trusting on my processor's heatsink..

A common misconception. Panaflos with the BX suffix fully support RPM monitoring. They're just very rare.

Oh, the non-RPM monitoring FBA0812L1As are coming up as $2.29 in my browser right now, both through tallest1's (edited?) link and when I manually goto their 80mm fans.

I just bought some stuff from KD Computers. It looks like they just moved over the border into Illinois, so now I have to pay Illinois state tax instead of cheap Wisconsin tax. Oh well.

I'd say that this company is very reputable. I met the owner in person and he seemed like a nice guy. There old place was an old converted house filled to the rafters with Antec boxes. I'm guessing that there new place is more like an actual business facility.

Anyway.. I see that the price is still $2.29. I might take a road trip up there within the next couple of days and pick up some fans. ;)

Nice. It's coming up as $2.29 for me as well. I think I might get some since they're so cheap, but Vantec's Silencer has higher output, and less noise. Not sure if the price is worth it, though.
