yeah, i would've gone with a palm, but i jumped on the $40 handspring deal at staples a couple weeks ago, i would've went for a palm V or something if i knew that handspring visors can't upgrade their OS!!!!!! <--- still mad about that!

ive had the palm vx for a long time now:

GOOD NEWS:

greyscale screen is sharp, crisp, and bright. even next to a handspring color outdoors, the palm Vx will put the handspring color prism to shame.

it is fast and a very dependable pda.

arguably the best form factor on the market. size is everything!

my battery lasts for 1-2 weeks before needing a charge.

BAD NEWS:

for me cost. (i paid $400 years ago. im a sucka for gadgets)

no memory upgradability. For me games is not a big deal, so memory isnt an issue. 8MB enough.

color is in! not impressed with the m505 color screen. very impressed with the sony clie color screen. (saw both at best buy the other day).

bottom line:
if you can pick up a Vx for under $199, and use it to its potential, you will NOT be unhappy.

hconner, people have been too nice to be forthright and explain, but there is a thread for people who are looking for things, so that the hot deals forum doesn't get clogged. please post to the ~~~~~~~~~I WANNA~~~~~~~~ and enable your PMs (Personal Messages). No more messages are necessary in this thread.

The simplest way to get the Palm Vx with no hassle, no PM, and no REBATE is to get it from Staples.com. They sell it for $299.99 and use the $40 coupon and the cost came down to $260 + tax and shipping is free. Thou u can always PM and getting a better price.

I got mines for $240 after PM and coupon at staples. Just go to Pricew@tch and find the lowest price and call st@ples and ask for price match. Use the $40 off 200 and w/ tax u should be paying around $240. ;)

polotek147, keep your IIIxe. i have one and like it just fine. Save your $$ for something else. Sure, i want a Vx also, but the IIIxe does the job and i can't justify plunking down the cash for something that does the same thing but is a bit smaller and nicer.

The part i hated about my palm iii was the battery consumption!....Uses batteries like a mofo. I'd much rather get a PDA with an integrated battery that recharges everytime you put it on a cradle...like the palm vx

my 2 cents
