that is a good deal, but i still say palm isn't worth their money for MOST people. I just sold my palm5 because i never used it (and i needed the money).

The new IPAQs are AWSOME though!
color tft screen, very nice!...but still quite useless for most of us

that is my 2 cents

Thanks for the great deal!!!

Listen to this....I phoned up and reserved the display model and then went into the Buckhead store in Atlanta. The manager told me that he did not have any left so I kicked uo the old routine "drove all the wy...etc!" Anyway he went off to look and brought back 2 palm 7's which had been returned - one no output on screen & the other becuase the customer could not connect to the internet.

I'm banking that the customer did not know how to connect properly as the palm is flawless. He said he would give it to me for $50. I then produced my $15 off coupon so ended up getting it for $35!!!

Anyone know how I can test internet connectivity without signing up?

I had one on hold at my local store. When I got there this evening they couldn't find it anywhere. They had three people looking for about twenty minutes. I ended up leaving with a Palm IIIe for $60. Better than nothing I guess.

I only got the Palm IIIe because they couldn't find the Palm VII they were holding for me. The manager offered it as the best he could do.

You may want to have them check the price on the Palm IIIe as it too has been discontinued. I do not know what the price is, just what the manager charged me.

I just bought the Palm IIIe for 99 in VA. I don't know the sku, its not on the box or on the receipt. The fact that the price ends in .99 means it is not a clearance item yet. Not a great price, but OK.

no OD in the boston area, but wanted to share my friend's experience:

I called him around 1pm to let him know about the deal, so he checked his local Athens, GA store with no luck. he called his father in Smyrna, GA area--he went to the store and had them do an inventory check in the area. unbenknownst to him at the time, the OD clerk looked up the wrong SKU (instead looking up the VIIx), telling him there were "13 or 14 at the downtown store." so he told them to put 4 on hold and then drove through atlanta traffic (which y'all probably know is disgusting). he got there and they told him they only had the VIIx in stock, so he became a little upset and turned around to leave...

then the best part...

the OD clerk at the downtown store (14th street, if anyone is keeping tabs) offered to sell him 4 VIIx units at $150/ea! naturally, he took him up on the deal, making his family quite possibly the most "connected" family to date.

all i can say is "wow."

I know... I posted that yesterday (re:MI). :)

BTW: The ODs that are closing suck so very badly.
They are now at 20% off PDAs, I asked to check on this Casio one, and it was STILL more than Officemax... Not to mention those closing stores will not accept coupons or PMs. :|

Even if you find it is it worth spending $45 each month for wireless access?
I have access at work and at home - Do I need it every second of the day? Not really

They would not do it for me... they said $399 only. The $99 price was for an open box model.

oh well.

You know, I saw this thread early yesterday morning and thought to myself, I don't really need a Palm, but for a hundred clams, I'll take it. Drove down to closest OD, salesperson says it's discontinued and not in stock. As I'm leaving, he says he remembers maybe one unit that was returned, so he checks in the back, and sure enough he walks out with it! Opened, with everything in the box except the software and the AAA batteries. $15 off $50 coupon made it even sweeter.

If you already bought it for 99.98 and now that office depot reduced the price to 49.88 can you get the 50$ credit on the palm by going to office depot.
