Do you need the cradle to recharge/sync or can you do that with a USB cable just by itself? Thanks

HTTPS is a secure HyperText Transfer, it uses encryption to encrypt the data that is being sent, and then it is decrypted once it reaches the appropriate ending destination. While simple HTTP is sent in plain text, and can be intercepted by hackers etc.. and read.

Not 100% sure about the V, but the Vx uses a serial cradle to sync and to recharge. You can get a converter from Serial to USB for it, but it still needs the Serial cradle along with that converter to sync, and charging is still in the cradle.
