I have check my devise mgr and it doesn't show a conflict at all. I am having k7M and it has two com ports on the motherboard. I tried both of them When i hit the hotsync button, it just doesn't connect to the computer. Anyone has this problem?

Did you check the Hot sync settings on your Palm?
It should be set to use a COM port

yes i did that too. i think this problem is really weird. This same thing happen to me when i try to install my printer too. It seems that my system is ignoring both my serial and my one printer ports. Whatever i plugged in there it doesn't work.

anyone else with suggestions? I don't believe there is an irq conflict because i don't see any exclamation marks on the com ports.

Com 3 doesn't actually exist so it will have to be com 1 or 2. Have you checked in the BIOS to make sure that those ports were not disabled. I have put together a few systems that the Mobo shipped with both Com ports and the LPT port disabled in bios. Also do you have an internal modem? Usually you wont see com3 unless you do. Go into device manager to see what com your modem is using. If it is using Com 1 or 3 try your Hotsync cradle on com 2. Be sure to change the Com port assignment in the Hotsync Manager.
