Hey everyone, I need a palm pilot that will allow me to access e-mail and the web from anywhere. Can you please tell me which models offer these functions? I am a bit confused about the specifications on the palm website. Also, can I use a separate internet service to access the web or do i have to use the palm ones. Thanks,
Ben

the only palm that has such capabilities by itself right now is the palm VII.

Well the easiest way to acces internet via Palm is the Palm VII which comes with wireless internet. You can however get a III series or V series, and then buy a Modem for them and go that way, but need a phoneline that way......

I swear I saw this person in a restaurant using the palm IIIc to surf the web. I must be seeing things.

You were not seeing things :p Here is how I do it. Palm Vx with a Nokia 8290 cell phone w/ build in wireless modem via infrared. I use Voicestream as my provider, just costs me minutes to surf. This is a good place for info You have to install some IR drivers onto your palm and then you're ready to go. I know for certain the 8290 with Voicestream works, some other combos might too. The Eudura Palm Internet Suite is also very nice.

There are also wireless modems availible for the III and V series. They'll cost ya extra, but in the case of the IIIc and V series, they won't chomp down on batteries like the VII will(both the VII and the modem draw off of the same 2 AAA batteries).

You could also buy a PalmModem (around $100) for your PalmPilot. It's a 33.6kbps modem, and you can dial into any regular ISP (ie. Earthlink, GTE, Worldnet, etc... not AOL). It's great, but you would have to have access to a phone jack in order to use it. I love mine! For more information, visit palm.com

Were you looking for only wireless modems?
