With Sprint's EV-DO, you can't do voice and data at the same time so it wouldn't even matter.Originally posted by: luv2liv

Supposedly there's a workaround that Sprint knows about but hasn't implemented. Verizon got a workaround working. Don't know if or when Sprint is going to get their's rolling.
Can you do all that stuff on a G1 or iPhone or Blackberry?Originally posted by: randomlinh
I got mine, love it, but more 1.0-ness than I had thought. Like no good detailed SMS timestamps. no notification customization for SMS (other than sound or not.. can't pick the sound at all). No vibrate+sound notification for email.. seems to be one or the other. bug w/ web browser where I can't use symbols from the 'sym' key that pops up the onscreen symbol picker (some of my passwords have symbols in there).
I can list the negatives all day, but despite that, most of it is fixable in software. And I think it's pretty obvious it was a gamble to begin with. Overall, initial impressions are positive with reservations on it being a bit too beta. This would explain the small launch probably.
Oh, and I just read there m ight be issues w/ a lot of Exchange security issues.. which sucks severely given this phone is suppose to meld business and life in one device. I can't say myself since our exchange setup at work is... in testing and they won't let me in to test, heh.

Just got back from my local sprint store.
They dont keep them in stock. You have to order one. Took my mom up there after Sunday brunch just so she could see it. No big loss since her law firm gives her a Blackberry, but I wanted her to know about alternative phones.
We went to the local T-mobile store just for fun. None of their G1's worked and they only had the low-end Blackberry's out for display.
Overall, bust. I thought about going to the mall and hitting up the kiosks, then realized how utterly ridiculous that would be.
