Annoying, but I don't know if it's worth the trouble of a return, or if they will even accept a return for something like this?

AFAIK know, if you try to return one right now, you'll be without a phone for a while cus they'll probably have to order you a new one since most places hardly have any and may be sold out. You'd have to check though and see.

I got mine, love it, but more 1.0-ness than I had thought. Like no good detailed SMS timestamps. no notification customization for SMS (other than sound or not.. can't pick the sound at all). No vibrate+sound notification for email.. seems to be one or the other. bug w/ web browser where I can't use symbols from the 'sym' key that pops up the onscreen symbol picker (some of my passwords have symbols in there).

I can list the negatives all day, but despite that, most of it is fixable in software. And I think it's pretty obvious it was a gamble to begin with. Overall, initial impressions are positive with reservations on it being a bit too beta. This would explain the small launch probably.

Oh, and I just read there m ight be issues w/ a lot of Exchange security issues.. which sucks severely given this phone is suppose to meld business and life in one device. I can't say myself since our exchange setup at work is... in testing and they won't let me in to test, heh.
Can you do all that stuff on a G1 or iPhone or Blackberry?

most of the stuff I've listed are things my last two dumbphones can do.... heh. dunno about anything else. They just seemed to be core functions.

Did any of you buy this and were already in a contract with sprint? I'm about 1 year in on my current 2 year agreement so just wondering how ugly the price will be. I plan to head to the store after work but if someone answers this with a ridiculous dollar amount it may save me a trip.

You gotta read up on the Pre. They have stated many time they are not at all interested in supporting the old platform. Thats what has been holding them back all these years and the main reason Palm has been lagging behind in the industry.
If you are lucky you might find something that still works, but dont bet on it. They deliberately set out to take their hardware and software in a new direction.

I havent really tried more, but i did check out those forums. Im thinking itll probably take a phone reset, its not a big inconvenience to have a little extra icon on the launcher so ill wait till they fix it in an update hopefully.

also from the launcher>app list sometimes i could get it to ask if i wanted to delete the web browser app, lol. i didnt try it though.

but thanks for your help with it anyway, i appreciate it.

If there weren't an SDK already planned with development documents already out there I'd think this would be more exciting. What exactly is the point with official development stuff available? I didn't even think Palm was requiring WebOS apps to be distributed through the App Store, unlike Apple.
