This is most likely what should have been released in the summer. But was delayed because a) Palm struggled to gain any marketshare and b) HP buyout processing.

I'm guessing it's the last thing that is primarily Palm hardware wise. Which might mean we won't see a phone from HP till summer =/

Alternatively, we take HP's word they will roll out several form factors, and we'll have a keyboardless webOS smartphone early next year to go along w/ that webOS tablet.

The problem for me is...the Palm Pre 2 looks just like the first one. I think they can have the Pre form factor but need a larger nearly all touchscreen version to compete.

There may well be a Pre 2 in development, but I don't think that picture represents the final product. I'd rather not see Palm make the same mistakes a second time around, tiny screen, crappy keyboard, etc.

I'd prefer them to license WebOS out to other manufacturers to use. I bet HTC could make a really kickass phone around WebOS.

The biggest feature they could add would be build quality that doesn't feel like I'm going to snap the thing in my hand.

If it is exactly the same as the original, then no thank you. If they are intending to release another WebOS phone with a larger screen and no hardware keyboard then I will happily check it out.

Possible wild pic. Seriously, if this is true and they kept the same form factor and keyboard, then fracking forget it!

Had to pick up my wife's 3rd Pre from Sprint today. Another faulty battery, but that's expected...this last phone's casing cracked at the charging port all the way in to the screen.

I liked the form factor but this has to be fake Why make a new phone that is supposed to revive the name AGAIN look like the one that failed? It doesn't make sense which is why I think it's fake.

If thats the Pre 2, then there are alot of dumb people in charge at HP.
The original Pre form factor was not a popular one so why in the world would you try it again.
The next webos 2 needs to have a 3.7"-4" screen

LOL, rumors has it that it still have a 480x320 screen.
Why would you even bother to release this phone if its true.
RIP before its even released.

If this is true then it doesn't make sense. Why make a new revival device look like the old failed device?

Not everyone needs HD.

You do realized that the original pre was a failure right ??
This will be 2011, not 2008.
If you want to play in the smartphone platform, the minimum is 3.5" or higher and 800x480 resolution.
Anything less than that, noone will notice you.

The original was a failure because it wasn't marketed well. How many people know the resolution of the screen on their cell phone? Not many...

Keep believing that if it makes you happy.
It has nothing to do with bad craftmanship and a design that looks like a piece of soap.
People might not know what the resolution is but a quick look between a 480x360 and a 800x480 and you see the difference right away.
And how about the 3.2" screen ??
I'd guess people would prefer the smaller screen too, huh ??
If the rumored specs are true. Its an automatic failure.
Not only WebOs is an underdog vs Android, iOS and win7, with a phone like that..noone is going to buy it.
I personally would love to try out WebOS but definately not with those specs.

Well I just got a Pre and I like it very much. The smaller size and rounded contours are a plus in my book. Fits great in my pockets.

It may look cool on its own, but when its in the store next to a brand new WP7/Android phone its going to look like crap

When this Pre2 is sitting next to other smartphones that are rocking 4+ Super AMOLEDs, the Pre2 is going to look very dated.

I don't understand, WebOS is a great OS, they just need a phone to go with it.

This. GEEKS check screen resolution/processor specs, 98% of the phone buying public don't.
