i think the matter at hand is...
as you stated...
a sensitive one.

with lots of people's hopes all inflated with the deal...
there's just no need for that sort of joke.

and besides...
by the look of his membership status...
it could be all very possible that he doesn't understand that large orders will kill deals like this.

so there you have it.
i too hope he was joking.

I just checked my order status...on the main order status page, it said order cancelled. Clicked on it, and it still said credit card to be processed, though

mine says Product may not be available on the order center page
and Credit to be checked on the order statement page

oh well... i guess my order will be joining yours soon.

can anyone else smell that? Yes...its a lawsuit pending and brewing bigtime. This is false advertising up the ying yang. We must sue otherwise they'll keep getting away with their free spam collecting tactics.
 
I saw this post at 9 when I was at work, and I thought what the heck I am losing nothing by putting order on it. Then I found I left my wallet home, I dug out a bunch receipts from my car but all of them carries only the last four digits of my credit card, damnnnn
 
Let it be known that I am not a Ferengi!! I lurked in these forums long enough to know the rules and how not to put deals in jeopardy before I even posted for the first time. I've gotten in on a few deals so far and know to just let the thing drop when it doesn't happen, although the BB GF4 deal still ticks me off as it was such a wide spread error, and so many were inconvienced by it. I just checked my order too (only for one 515, just to set the record straight) and it shows "Product may not be available" with "Credit to be checked" on the details page. And by the way, I placed my order through gateway.com, for those of you who don't know that necx is basically the gateway accessory store now.

Well I got the order confirmation email and my order status on the page says:

Sending order to warehouse.


Doubt I will get it but at least there is still a chance. The great part is that this will be the 2nd $60 palm I will get from anandtech. I got a Palm V a few years ago for $60.40..

i'd agree with you in that there are some nasty vendors that pull something like this to gain spam list.

but i'm not sure if necx is one of them.
i'm not trying to defend them in any way.
however, of all the price errors that's come up in AT...
i think this might've been their first.
(please correct me if i'm wrong)

dell used to pull this trick every friday (or at least it seemed)
but i think with dell, it was just lack of organization.
if you ever tried to deal with dell csr...
you'll quickly realize people over there have no idea what they are doing
and what anyone else is doing in the company for that matter.

it just seemed like a chaos. over in dell... i mean... why would the number 1 computer vendor need to gain more spamail addresses like that?

perhaps i'm just naive.

On the order statement page, it says Credit to be checked
 
On my order history, the status says "sending order to warehouse" and when i click on the order, it says "credit to be checked". Anyone else have that on their order history??

Mine hasn't been cancelled yet, but I already lined up a crap TV lawyer to handle my case.
Seeing as I was going to sell my 50 on Ebay and you can assume a 20% over retail "SUCKER" fee to anything on Ebay, I can easily claim $540 each which entitles me to sue them for $27000 all because some poor soul forgot a zero.
And that's only compensatory damages. I can also sue for up to $86M for time lost and the mental anguish of actually thinking I was going to get 50 of these for $40 each.

It's a win-win situation!
