Palm link problems

Hello all, I have a Sony Clie PEG-S320 and I am having troubles linking it to my PC. THis is my 2nd Palm to own and the other one (palm Vx) worked with no problem.

I cannot get this one to link up. I have tried the SW that came with the Clie and the Palm OS softtware form the palm site, everytime I try and link up, it tries to install some hardware and it cannot locate any drivers.

I then search the source for the .inf file that the OS is looking for to make this work and I am unable to find it. Can someone please tell me where the file I am looking for is located.

It is tellimg me that I am needing a file named PALMUSB.inf and I find it and it won't install the hardware. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Stupid question here; but did you uninstall the old software, and do a fresh install of the software on the CD? Also, is the Vx unplugged from the system? If I recall right, the PalmUSB driver was for the USB adapter Palm used to let the V series(which was serial) use USB.

Actually I should have clarified that, the Vx was on a totally different PC. It has never been connected to this PC. This is a fresh install.

My assumption, which could be grossly incorrect is that the Sony will work with the Palm OS software. The reason I feel my problem is not that, is that I have the same problem when I install the supplied Sony software that came with the CD. Which is actually just the Palm OS software, but the 3rd edition.

Thanks.
