too bad they arent any more 20 off 50 coupons! since the palm IIIxe is 249, and .16 staples = 250.15 - ( 4 x 20/50 ) = 150 - 50 mir = 100 + tax, but the best way would probably be 3 x 25/75

Has anybody tried to get staples to match the earthlink member deal of $199 & THEN applied coupons & rebate?

This does work. I was able to use three $25 off $75 coupons. But I didn't like the way they calculated the final price. The CSR calculated the tax on the TOTAL amount of the order ($250 x 1.07) = $267.50 and then deducted the $75 coupon dollors for a net of $192.50! I tried arguing that the coupons should be deducted FIRST and then you calculate the sales tax. He asked the Supervisor and that is the way they do it.:|

Maybe people can post exactly HOW they got it to work...like which coupons (ie 3x25/75 no codes of course)

Yes can you guys please tell exactly which coupons you used in what order. Include shipping and tax info etc. Forget about listing the $50 rebate until after the fact because that just confuses people more.

Here's how it works.
For example, if you order something that is $250
You can apply these coupons
$25 off $75
$25 off $75
$30 off $100

75+75+100 this part cannot be more than the purchase price, which is $250 in this example.
So final cost is $250-$80 = $170 ...

I know how it works but I wanted to know which specific coupons people used for this particular deal.

OK, tell me what you think...go easy, I'm new.

Corex Cardscan (Staples item 395732 for $250) has a rebate going. $50 off if you buy the item by itself and $100 back if you buy a handheld device (Palm, Handspring, Sony...) What I was thinking of was to combine say a Handspring Visor Deluxe and the Cardscan to bring my purchase price up to $500. Then combine some coupons and rebates to drop the price down. Then...**ahem** e*blay the Cardscan to recover some of my money. Would come out to something like this:

$250 Cardscan
$250 Visor
-$25 off 100 coupon
-$25 off 100 coupon
-$25 off $75 coupon
-$25 off $75 coupon
-$25 off $75 coupon
-$15 off $75 coupon
-$200 auction (being conservative but it looks like it could sell for more)
-$100 rebates
+ $25 Tax (applied to the price after coupons luckily)
---------------------------------
$85 (maybe more, maybe less depending on the auction)

Does it sound like too much hassle to shave another $25-35 bucks off the price of the Visor? Seems that people are getting Palm IIIxe's for about $120 without the extra legwork.

Edit
Well I just did this deal and made changes to the method I used on applying coupons. Called back twice because I kept finding better use of the codes. All the reps I talked to had no problem applying more than 3 as long as the price of the coupons doesn't exceed the price of the order.

Wow, pretty good deal. Too bad I don't really need one of these, but it really is tempting. I am thinking about getting the monitor for my girlfriend, though. I think that she would really like that on her pseudo desk.

I think if people continue to abuse the staples coupons, staples will not issue any good coupon (where are those $20 off $50 coupon now?) or will have more restrictions. At that time, we will have no more good deal.

As right as you are, I don't see any way around this. I mean we can make it an honor code that we don't use more than 1 coupon. But how many lurkers do you think are going to adhere to that? We'd all basically get screwed since they'd abuse the coupons and then they'll shut it down. So we might as well take advantage of it.

I was wondering if anyone has tried price matching with mwave.com. They have it for $220 before MIR. The site is herehere

Let me know if this would work.

I just got off the phone w/ two CSR's. I first called 1-800-StaXXXX and asked for a price match (with MultiWave's $219 deal). No problem there. Then I gave the rep. my coupon codes, she said the codes onl work with staples.com so she transferred me to a staples.com rep.... then just like the website said -> only one "dollar off" coupon allowed. i did not buy it because I can get a better deal at Amazon. argh... i guess it depends on the CSR. But one very important point here, the first CSR said she HAD to transfer me to the internet sales rep. because her supervisor instructed her to. Looks like they're tighen up their coupon policies.

If you call the 800 staples number, you are already speaking to a Staples.com rep. I don't understand what you are talking about.

I think you just got a bad Rep. I just got off the phone with one that insisted that Staples will not price match a web site because the prices on the web are lower than what you might pay for the item in my local area. WTF?? I argued for about 5 minutes and then just hung up.

But earlier I successfully placed my order using 6 coupons. I edited my earlier post to show how it finally came out.

Good luck.
