The last time I ordered from Staples.com, it was on the afternoon of Friday, 1/05/2001. I received the order the next Monday, and the invoice inside the package had a ship date of 1/05/2001 (which was that original Friday). Hopefully the same will hold true for this order.

The customer service rep just told me that the bulletin saying not to pricematch amazon has been taken down. Even if they do give you issues about the 199.99 price being after rebate, there are several vendors with similar prices saying that its 149 after rebate so you can pricematch them.

My CSR said that they were instructed not to authorize PM with Amazon and OD because they used rebates. I asked her if she had gone to the site and checked for herself, but she hadn't, she was just going by what she was told earlier this morning. I told her to go to OD website and add one to the cart and see if there is any mention of the rebate. When she saw nothing about the rebate, she said that she would call me back after looking into it. 10 minutes later she called and said that she could do the PM. Apparantly OD had changed the pricing from this morning and the $199 is BEFORE rebate.

Total net price after shipping/tax and rebate at Staples is $119.59. Thanks DSDC!

i talked to 2 CSRs and they both told me I coudln't use the $40 off because it was for 'preferred' customers or something like that. I needed a special customer #... wtf??? But they would let me use the $30 off coupon...

The last one Terren, told me that the price is now $199.98. She didn't even mention the rebate. But when I told her the **178 $40 coupon, she said that I'd have to fax the email or postcard that the # came on. What the! I guess I'll try one last time.

Thanks VenGog, but I got it from Staples @$200 before rebate/PM/coupon. With tax it's $120. With this, and my soon-to-be-here ePod, I'm all set.

I ordered mine over the phone, so the only record of the transaction is the packing slip. However, the packing list has a date of 01/22/01. The rebate would not qualify for this date. What should I do? Call up staples and ask for their help?

Staples order number has the date.
If you order on Jan 19, your order number should start with 10119 (the last digit of 2001 then 1 19).

Jan 22 is the ship date.

Try to highlight the order number and write a quick note on teh receipt. Make copies. Hopefully will work out fine for you.

If you still have doubt, call Palm (number on rebate form) to verify.

I called staples and had them fax me a printout of their order screen. Gonna call Palm tomorrow and make sure this is acceptable (along with packing slip, and explanation) for their rebate. If not, back it goes.

I had called Palm about this earlier. The lady I talked to said to include a copy of the credit card statement for proof of date of purchase if the packing slip did not have the price and date on it. Your CC statement should have the exact day of purchase.
