Been out of town the last two days... But saw this deal the night before I left.

Went to the local B&M Staples and tried it... The Mcglen site still showed 2 in stock at 8:00am Eastern (the morning after the orig post), so they matched the deal. They also gave me the $40 off coupon, and oddly enough no taxes were added (local is 6%). Anyway, I bought three, one me and two for friends. $248 (price plus 2nd day ship)- $40 coupon, = $208 even. Thanks for the heads up, and thank god the site said 2 left all night long.

Don't know what area you are in, but that may have something to do with it. Where I was able to do it was the Marietta, GA area... Actually had to go to two stores, the first was out of stock. They verified the deal and called the other store to be sure that I would get the deal. Then I had to drive to a store in Cartersville, GA to pick them up.

Seems people in the New York area and other New England states have a hell of a time gettting Staples and Office Max to honor their policies. Must have something to do with the way people are in certian areas. Folks around here are a lot less uptight and more customer friendly.

I am in the NY area and Staples managers give my puzzled looks when I say the word "pricematch."
They don't do that around here. Otherwise I'd get me a IIIC in a NY minute!

My IIIc arrived from Staples.com today, and it is not shrinkwrapped like the IIIc I bought in the B&M Staples store. The box is taped shut. I haven't opened the box yet to check the unit. I want to verify if others have received their IIIc from Staples.com shrinkwrapped or taped shut. When I bought a Maxtor 40GB drive from Staples.com two weeks ago the first drive was shrinkwrapped, but I thought the shrinkwrapping seemed odd. When I opened the box I realized why; the drive was a return! The cable bag had been taped shut and the antistatic bag containing the drive was torn open. I returned that drive and the new drive was a new unit.

So, if you've received your IIIc from Staples.com, was the box shrinkwrapped or not?

staples are a buncha a$$es. i now question if the headache is ever worth any HOT deal that comes out of staples. i mean take for example last week i ordered a stick of ram from them. it came on friday. a stick of ram in a humongous box filled with air bubbles. everybody already knows how dumb that is already. i opened it up and guess what was in it. a packet of batteries. so i rearranged them to pick it up and bring me my ram. they came today. i opened it up, nope no ram but a packet of post-it notes.

wenever u get something from staples, do yourself a favor and open it at the door while the delivery guys is still there. i'm so pissed at staples that i would not even feel immoral ordering something and then lying that they mixed up my order again.

I exchanged the shipped IIIc for a new one at a Staples B&M. The manager opened the old box and sure enough, the first unit was a return. The new unit is in a new box with a slightly different software bundle.

Damn. I really wanted this too. I knew I should have tried PM with Staples more than once.

I don't see anyway to continue it. I had this happen with McGlen once before with a monitor. Rather than honor, they cancelled the order.

I got the same email. Oh well. I did manage to get one for $250 (the Staples that had it in stock wouldn't let me use coupon codes, I had to have actual coupons and they made me do next day shipping) but $150 off is nothing to cry about.

I was going to sell it but I tried it and like it so much better than my old Palm III, I think I'm going to keep it!
