Hi all. I was looking at the 4850 cards at Newegg and saw the PALiT XAE/48500+T352 Radeon HD 4850 512MB for $139.99 AR (Linky). Has anyone purchased this card yet and care to provide a review on its performance? I am especially curious about the performance of its non-reference cooler.
 
The cooler is pretty awesome.

I removed a cooler like that from my 8600GTS, and added Zalman vf900 , the difference was only 5C . so the cooler is quite good for a stock cooler .

I knew what cooler you were talking about. I know about all the Palit coolers .
 
Thanks Wolf2009. I didn't mean to suggest that you didn't know what cooler I was referring to in my post. I just wanted to make it more clear to anyone else who might be looking at the post.

Do you know if this cooler covers the RAM, and if not, then are there RAM sinks on the memory chips?

I think if Newegg had this card with free shipping, I would pull the trigger. Otherwise, I can wait for a really good deal. Maybe one of their "one day" specials or maybe Black Friday.
 
The cooler covers the ram chips , and blows air over the PCB in all the directions .

The PCB itself is redesigned , and is a good 1.5 to 2 inches shorter than reference HD4850 . All in all, this is the best HD4850 on egg right now, since it is very short and comes with very good cooling
 
This card is available through Tiger Direct at $169.99 + $8 shipping, less 5% Msft cashback, less $30 rebate (net of about $139 for me). For Californians, not paying tax is a pretty tempting reason to not buy through newegg or ZZF.
 
To add some personal experience: I have this card (even though my retailer sold it as branded as a Peak hardware card) and I can confirm that the cooler is LOUD. It does some decent speed throttling (14% fan speed up to about 65 degrees C), but even at that speed it is very noisy.

Even though the cooling is excellent*, I'm going to try and fit an AC S1r2 on it. It has no ramsinks, but the cooler blows down on the memory chips directly.

* ~35C idle, 55C under load on an open testbed.
 
I have the very same card,I would like to know whether somebody has tried to oc it.I tried to OC it with CCC and Riva Tuner both times the Crysis Demo crashed.Also do graphics card have regular or any BIOS updates at all,just curious.
I have 54C with the fan at 6% fan speed in idle and max 76C with fan at 40% but then I do live in a cool place.
