Edit: Part of their verdict -

The reality is that the price-level offers fabulous amount of value for money. As such I recommend the GeForce GTS 250 series very much.

Palit is .. well Palit and as such they had to come up with something original. The custom PCB, the really nice cooler, HDMI integrated all really fun and good stuff. The option to make 2048MB cards however is something that for you guys as an end user is not very important. In fact, you might as well get a 512MB version as the difference in-between 512MB and for example 1024MB already is really slim. Only in very framebuffer limited situations you would access and need the extra memory, it would help in the very highest resolutions and combined with complex AA settings, say over 8xAA. And fact is, the GPU itself is not powerful enough to handle that anyway.

Here's my thought on the memory configurations available: 512MB, very recommended, 1024MB .. if you want that little extra and 2048MB .. you just can't measure the results and thus benefits after 1024MB really, making this a bit of a gimmick. We do love the fact that there are manufacturers out there that go for that extra mile, and certainly appreciate a board with 2048 MB graphics memory, but make no mistake .. you do pay extra for it and the return of that investment is close to nothing when you relate that to your gaming experience. But sure, it's good to have choices. Other then that, we definitely like what Palit brings to the table and if you play around with it a little, you'll overclock it a little higher as well. Palit covers the product with a two year warranty. We loved the cooler, very silent ... heck in combo with that HDMI port, it might be an excellent HTPC graphics card as well.

On another note, I think that card looks sweet regardless.

2GB on a 250, interesting.
Yet Palit seems very slow of actually getting their products on the shelves if you want one.

And Where the heck are the Palit GTX 285 2GB cards we heard about over a week ago?
I still dont see those for sale either.

They're hangin' out with the Zotac Infinity cards.

his thoughts on the 1GB versions

The information from most reviews and the info from his own review as far as Far Cry 2 and Crysis Warhead, don't seem to agree with that statement

The extra gig doesn't make any difference, at least in the tests from the following:

2GB over 1GB, no, but Hillbert at guru3d claims that the 1GB version doesn't make much of a difference either....but on Crysis Warhead and Farcry 2 it obviously does...and the GPU with 1GB obviously is powerful enough to pump out playable frame rates at 1920x1200 with higher AA settings...while with 512MB it is not.

I'm more interested in the Palit GTX 285 2gb and if it can make use of the extra mem.
The GTS 250 2gb we already knew it wouldnt matter.

In Far Cry 2 there seems to be a difference, although the 2GB hovers around that magical 30 fps threshhold. However, I'm not seeing that difference in Crysis. Even AT's own benchmarks show there to be a small to zero difference in playability in most games, again with FC2 being the exception. I think he has somewhat of a point, although the benefit of a GTS250-class video card with more than 512MB of VRAM would be most evident in a multi-GPU setup. In other words, a single 2GB GTS250 really won't give someone any more longevity out of the card as the 1GB and in most cases the 512MB versions would.

Actually, they have the 512MB 9800GTX+ in the benchmarks, which is the same thing as a 512MB GTS250.

IT LOOKS LIKE Palit is doing the long-rumoured and closing shop in the US.

TheInq, so take it with the usual grain of salt.

I actually emailed Palit and asked where I could get a 2gb GTX 285 before you posted that info.
