Palit 9600gt non sonic

Ihave a new Palit 9600gt non-sonic -- Anyone have any experience with this card and its supposedly variable fan speed using the included VDO control tool. Supposedly the fan can be set to fixed (from 50 to 100% fan speed) or variable depending on temp inside the box -- mine has one speed -- high and loud -- and never varies from start up regardless of the setting selected on the VDO tool.

Any suggestions?

Wierd. Mine immediately shuts off once windows loads the driver on bootup and I've never so much as heard it even when gaming after that.

It good to knwo that this card will function silently -- comments from others who bought it at newegg indicate the same thing -- that the fan rarely runs after the drivers load. Imay have to send it back as i dont know any thing else to check -- I;ve reinstalled the drivers and the card to no avail -- adn downloaded the latest Nvidia drivers.

i am out of ideas -- except to think this just may be defective.

Maybe... You do have it on auto fan control right? If so and it's running 100%, either your room is 100degrees celsius or the fans broke.
