Palin's Scientific Ignorance

I am sure most of you have seen this but man this is depressing.

Even junior high kids understand that fruit flies are the basic tool in genetic research and can give you the reasons why. I understand why fundamentalists love Palin but if she is actually elected to office (I doubt she will be) that will deliver a strong economic message to the rest of the world on America's coming scientific and economic decline in the biomedical/science/tech sectors. Depressing stuff. :/

What is learned in Junior High is usually lost by most by the time the are finished college unless it is applicable to where they are going.

While I wouldn't argue with her ignorance, this speaks more to the ignorance of her speech writers and the incompetence that would allow a campaign to issue such a speech.
