Palin's Pastor Problem

While there has been much talk about Obama's prior association with his Chicago pastor, Palin's pastor associations have not gotten as much attention up until now.

Recently there has been talk about Sarah Palin's association with Thomas Muthee, at the church Palin attended regularly until 2004. In particular eyebrows were raised about how Palin praised Muthee for praying over her as she ran for Governor of Alaska in 2005, and seemed to credit him with her electoral success in a 2008 visit to the church again.
After what the 44-year-old described as his "awesome" prayer she went on to become Alaska's first governor.

Recalling the event, Palin said ?As I was mayor and Pastor Muthee was here and he was praying over me, and you know how he speaks and he?s so bold.

"And he was praying ?Lord make a way, Lord make a way.

?And I?m thinking, this guy?s really bold, he doesn?t even know what I?m going to do, he doesn?t know what my plans are.

"And he?s praying not ?oh Lord if it be your will may she become governor,? no, he just prayed for it.

"He said ?Lord make a way and let her do this next step. And that?s exactly what happened.?

However the Pastor has disturbing views and still brags about the time he drove a "witch" out of town back in Africa and "saved" the town."
Pondering the message of Eph.6:12 ("For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world..."), they prayed to identify the source of Kiambu's spiritual oppression, Mr. Muthee says. Their answer: the spirit of witchcraft.

Their research into the community revealed that a woman called "Mama Jane" ran a "divination clinic" frequented by the town's most powerful people.

After months of prayer, Muthee held a crusade that "brought about 200 people to Christ." Their church in the basement of a grocery store was dubbed "The Prayer Cave," as members set up round-the-clock intercession. Mama Jane counterattacked, he says, but eventually "the demonic influence - the 'principality' over Kiambu - was broken," and she left town.

(The "intercession" heavily relied upon threats for the woman to leave town or else.)

However yesterday the video of Palin in the church during one Muthee's sermons with the actual prayer said over Palin which she praised so much has now been released to youtube.

The video shows Palin standing before Bishop Thomas Muthee in the pulpit of the Wasilla Assembly of God church, holding her hands open as he asked Jesus Christ to keep her safe from "every form of witchcraft."

"Come on, talk to God about this woman. We declare, save her from Satan," Muthee said as two attendants placed their hands on Palin's shoulders. "Make her way my God. Bring finances her way even for the campaign in the name of Jesus. ... Use her to turn this nation the other way around."

You can see the prayer portion of the video here, complete with the mention of witchcraft and the laying of hands upon Palin as part of the blessing.

You can also see the longer version of the video at the link below which features a sermon with disturbing talk of how they should go about violating the separation between church and state to to turn the United States into a more Christian nation. He actually does describe electing Sarah Palin to Governor of Alaska as one of those steps.

Are you suggesting some sort of religious cabal between Mrs. Palin and the church leadership?

Have you ever attended a non-mainline church service, and witnessed the type of issues that are the subject of prayer?

If you are concerned with cabals taking over the US government, why not focus on the Skull & Bones Society or the Bilderberg Society?
They offer far more fodder for conspiracy theories than a prayer service at an Alaskan church.

If Rev. Wrights statement when Obama was not there is an issue then this is even more legit.

This guy used to go on witch hunts in Africa and physically threaten people.

Uh, did you people actually read the article? He's a visiting pastor from Kenya; not the regular pastor of Palin's church. He was visiting and called Palin up to pray over her; end of story.

I promise to be suitably outraged if you find something about Palin hunting witches in Wasilla.

Pastor's visiting from Kenya...what is she supposed to do, tell him to FOAD with his nonsense?

If the left really really wants to make this an issue, then this will be hilarious.

There's really no need too, Palin is doing a good enough job proving that she's not up to the task.

If he's a visiting pastor and he called her up, she's in a tough spot. Most people won't tell the pastor to fuck off and they dont want to be prayed for. She may not have known he was going to bring up all the witchcraft shit either. Its something we need to look into, but I don't think Sarah has shown a history of being a witch hunter or participated in any witch hunts or been long time associates with any witch hunters or endorsed it in anyway. Definitely odd, but I don't think its anything of major substance.

Lol@comments: This is a major blow for the Democrats. Their plan to use witchcraft against Palin looks hopeless now.

True enough, every time she opens her mouth it screams "weak". However, issues like this are retarded to even try and slam her for considering BO's pastor.

Me thinks, the good pastor failed to distinguish which witch to protect Palin from. There is no protection from the inner witch of Palin. I know its a bitch, the pastor tried to protect her from threats coming from the outside, but when Palin is Palin's worst enemy, there is no hope for a dope.

You're probably right and it'd be just as pointless. The left is all over this just like the right would be, there is no difference. Both would be making a mound out of an ant hill.

I don't really think it's funny, or not something to raise eye brows. This woman can never be wrong or doubt herself because she believes to the very bottom of her being that everything that happens is part of God's plan, and that she is always in line with that plan.

This is the real problem.

Aside from that, praying for political ends and so forth is pretty weak sauce, that's when you step into Jim Baker territory.

There is something on HuffoPo about this, this wasn't a one time deal with this guy, he's there all the time apparently or frequently visits, there's like really recent video of this guy in the church.

Palin spent most of her life as a part of this church, which apparently believes that witches walk among us, this is not good.

I have to agree this is somewhat a tempest in a teapot. I don't know what I would do if I walked into church one day and some idiot singled me out, hauled me up in front of the congregation, and ceremonially protected from witchcraft.

Let me put it do you this way, I would be a wee mite freaked out.

Supposedly, he was a visiting pastor on FIVE separate occasions. To say that she had no real choice but to honor the pastor's request is to ignore the fact that she then lamented how "awesome" it was to be part of his exorcism.

For the record, I know people that believe that they themselves are the witches that walk among us, and they do the whole "Satan's curse on x" thing, so the witch stuff does run from both sides.

This shit sits well with people here? It bothers me greatly that a witch doctor is performing these rituals on a potential VP.

Good thing they aren't running for office, that would be the shortest campaign in history.

Do they wear guyliner too? Sounds like a Myspace convention.
