Palin was issued a revised W2 by her employer. This does not make her a tax cheat, nor is this situation similar to any of the embarassing tax cheats nominated by the Obamessiah. Epic fail, sorry.

Here are some key points from article:

At the time, Palin?s office said the governor was entitled to the payments.

the governor?s office had asked the office to review the tax treatment of the per diem payments

Kreitzner told the paper that following the review, the per diem payments will be treated as income

How you compare this to not filing taxes is utter bullshit. Period.

Who didn't file their taxes? Name some names, please. Apparently though, in the view of the usual Obama nit-pickers around here, having to pay back taxes is the equivalent of being a tax cheat. So I just went with this definition.

I think that after 2008 her aspirations for national office are irrevocably dashed. Lets hope so anyway. The Republican Party should understand that being aligned with the religious nuts hurts more than it could help.

The state has decided to treat this as regular income and thus subject to taxation after the fact.

Did she honestly think that she could be paid tax free? What intelligent person would think per diem was a way around paying income taxes?

I get a per diem when I travel for the company and don't have to file anything on my tax return...pretty sure this is the same for all of my co-workers as well.

is the governer's per diem different or something???

People get paid per diem when travelling on business and incurring expenses that would not be incurred if they were at home. They do not get paid to sit at home.

Sorry...Guess I should have said failing to report income which resulted in $140K in back taxes or not paying Social Security or Medicare taxes or not paying unemployement taxes for household help....

do you feel all better now???

Filing an amended return upon discovery of a tax liability does not make someone a cheat. Waiting years to repay the debt, like Solis, does. Not disclosing $300,000 in income, like Daschle, also makes someone a tax cheat. I'm not sure that I would call Geithner a tax cheat but I'm not that familiar with his transgression. I wouldn't classifiy Killefer as a tax cheat either as she appeared to right her wrong shortly after discovery, not simply waiting during the vetting process like the other tax cheats did.

Geithner's employer gave him paperwork specifically reimbursing him for his dodged taxes for multiple years. Palin's employer gave her wrong paperwork for a single year.

Hmm.....

WTF does that have to do someone getting a per diem trying to avoid paying income taxes as you posted earlier?

Here a hint...It doesn't.... in case you missed it, there were several posts after yours about how a per diem works...you should read them...really....

Well, first of all, it wasn't Solis, it was her husband's tax problem. So she didn't technically do anything wrong. Daschle pretty much F'd up, I'll give you that. Geithner made a pretty common mistake for employees of international institutions. So eh? He should have known better I guess.

Per diem is a form of employer reimbursement. She was accepting money from her employer which was not reimbursement for any expenses, because there were none. It was just additional income, and income is taxable. There's no leap of logic here, stay with me.

At the time the per diem was paid out, it was deemed an acceptable expense at the time and not income.

Only after it was reviewed by the Governor's office was the decision made it was not an appropriate expense and should be classifed as income, therefore Palin would have to report it as such.

try and keep up...

I don't care for Palin since she is the reason Obama is in the white house... well McCain is at fault too. But anyway, those clothes were purchased by the RNC. They were returned after the campaign and supposed to be donated. Of course they are still sitting in bags probably but just wanted to clear up the misconception. This being the internet and all.

Why wait for 2012?

If they file jointly, it is her tax problem, period. She fucked up by not ensuring her husband paid his tax debt year after year after year.

the beautiful part of this is that every time the libs look for something to try and nail her on, they are doing it to try and stifle any chance of her being a candidate for the next election...and why would they do that?

Well apparently as stupid and as full of shit as they think she is she is still a threat....yes ladies and gentlemen a, a no name female Governor from a state no one gives 2 shits about that is located wayyy up north still poses a significant threat to the liberal agenda.

Now, if it is true that she poses no threat and she is as insignificant as the libs would like her to be, then there is no point on constantly trying to find fault on everything she does.

She was getting all this per diem shit wayyyy before she stole Obamas thunder and it was no problem before the election but all of a sudden, now it's a big fucking deal...your guy has possession of the oval office for the next 4 years.....stop woring about what might happen after that....focus on the here and the now so we can try and get the hell out of this shit.

And disqualify her from holding public office again.

EDIT: She should step down immediately.

Wow, OP, your post shows a serious serious lack of reading comprehension and reasoning skills. In fact, she has done absolutely nothing wrong or criminal. Go read it again, maybe this time you can comprehend what you're reading and realize that in no way shape or form does is make her a tax cheat. Also, in no way or form will she be the 2012 republican candidate either.

Well, since a per diem is SUPPOSED to be reimbursement for funds one expends (on an after-tax basis, mind you) out of their own pocket for business pursuits, I think many reasonable people would expect it to be tax-free. After all, if it is taxable you're being double-taxed on it (once, when you earn income and again when the already taxed income you earned is reimbursed by an employer).

Yes, if she had been paying a motel and meals while out of town then it should be tax free. When she's getting paid to stay at her own home the the least she could do is pay taxes on the income.

She shouldn't be getting a per diem for staying at home oin the first place??
