WASILLA, Alaska ? Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, amid speculation she'll run for president in four years, blamed Bush administration policies for the defeat last week of the GOP ticket and prayed she wouldn't miss "an open door" for her next political opportunity.

The headlines of the past few weeks have pretty much been "Palin blames everything but her own crippling stupidity for GOP defeat"

there are many factors that contributed to the GOP's defeat, and GW's policies combined with McCain's failure to distance himself from them is certainly one of those factors.

It was a huge factor. Just being a Republican alone was a red flag because of how people feel about Bush today. Obama could have taken the stage at every rally and just said "We dont need a repeat of the past 8 years. Thank you, good night!" and still won.

I thought she was sure that god was going to see to it that the right person got elected. If that was the case, GWB had nothing to do with it. Just "God's Will".

Palin is basically George Bush with lipstick. Nice to have at a BBQ, horrible to lead the country.

PS-doesn't she know her 15 minutes are up? (unless she gets some TV show with Joe the Plumber).

It's only God's will when it goes bad because then they don't have to look in the mirror and ask..."What part of this am I to blame for?".

They are able to absolve themselves of taking any responsibility for their actions that way.

If she would have won....then it would have been about everything that she did that had a positive impact on the campaign and how she was the push that got McCain over the top. Basically, Sarah, Sarah, Sarah.

When is the media going to forget about Palin and move on? Palin is no more significant than Jack Kemp.

Maybe that is because there is no evidence that she had anything to do with their defeat.

VP candidates never matter, except in their home state.

You really can't be serious?!

The polls clearly showed that once she started talking, McCain started dropping. Every "interview" that she did, she showed that she was less and less qualified to be a PTA president....let alone the POTUS.

Yeah, but what she doesn't understand is that she is everything people hated about Bush.

That is irrelevant. McCain would have lost the election no matter what.

Name for me a VP candidate that would have added more votes to McCain's total.
The only time McCain actually led was right after he put her on the ticket and that lead disappeared due to the credit market meltdown and stock-market plunge.

I have yet to see one meaningful piece of data that suggests she had anything to do with his loss.

It's like saying Mondale lost because of Geraldine Ferraro's husband's having problems and a pre-election scandal.

Palin herself was the main reason I didn't seriously consider McCain during the last three months.

A little piece of meaningful data for you.

I would have voted for Bozo the Clown before I would have voted for an ignorant, religious nut like Palin who might have ascended to the Oval Office.

Bozo might not have been effective, but people like Palin are dangerous.

Seriously, shut the fuck up Palin. McCain has graciously gone back to his old way of life.

Were you going to vote for McCain and then change your mind??

Can you find ANY real evidence that large numbers of people did that?
Can you find any real evidence that more people would have voted McCain if he had Rudy, Romney etc on his ticket?

I know of easily a dozen people who feel the same way. I know of a lifelong Republican who voted 3rd party as a personal form of protest.

PJ, I think most would agree you have an ounce more credibility than Dave on this forum. With this remark I think you lost that ounce.

Look at the polls the day after the Couric interview of Palin. Wake up, smell the roses.

I can picture her spending a lot of evenings in the coming years sitting in an easy chair in front of the fireplace reading a book. :)
