Palestinians Crossing into Egypt

I am looking at the pictures of what is happening on CNN.Com and I see a bunch of armed Hamas Islamic militants standing over Egyptian police guards who are pushing Palestinians out.


How the hell can the Egyptians feel comfortable or even allow for armed militants to be standing in the middle of a shoving match between Egyptian security forces and Palestinians?

Shoot the bastards.

Apparently they are letting them in but nowhere near any populated areas?
They say it's a humanitarian situation but who is going to feed these people and provide for their needs such as medical, etc?
Will the Egyptians be screening them for weapons etc?
Just an all around bad situation IMO.

It's disgusting that so many people find it strange that Palestinians are being let out of their cage and not the other way around.

Dunno. Ask any of the dozen middle eastern arab countries if they'll take the palestinians in. They'll say no, but they'll offer 10k for them to blow themselves up in israel.

Lets see if California was taken over and all Americans pushed into other states. I doubt people would simply be content with that - both Californians as well as other states. Furthermore - the border countries ARE hosting many Palestinians.

I find it it sad that someone thinks Arabs are an entirely homogenized group that could be moved from location to location and everything would be absolutely fine.


I'm for one, glad Eygpt is doing very little. What is going on in Gaza is VERY wrong and thank God people are getting across to get the supplies they need. Its sad that everyone is automatically thinking about the weapons and guns that could cross over (not saying that can't happen) when its absolutely obvious that simple human supplies is what is being transferred over. If the goal was to move guns - you wouldn't have fluxes of Palestinian Civilians moving through to buy goods and going back.

Of course Eygpt also has to worry about Public Opinion. Given something like 30 years of dictatorship, that has allowed more extreme groups to become powerful because legal political paths in the country are near zero. It is a game they are playing as well, and allowing Palestinians to pass through, even though they ultimately don't care, gives them points with much of the Arab Street who DOES sympathize with the Palestinians

What Israel is doing is engaging in the collective punishment of all Palestinians who live in Gaza.And Israel is withholding funds set aside by the international community for basic necessities like food and water.

While the leadership of Israel and Egypt don't give a damn if the Palestinians live or die, the average people on the streets will not tolerate Israel starving anyone. And Mubarak knows it would be political suicide to prevent them at least having an opportunity to buy the basic necessities of life. So the wall goes, Egyptian soldiers look the other way, and the can gets kicked down the road as the Palestinians continue to live in hopeless conditions of squalor.

Hey, there is supposed to be an Peace conference going to solve these problems remember?
If Israeli oppression has not made the insurgency go away for 60 years, who is crazy enough to think Israeli oppression will work now?

You think that Palestinian leadership does give a damn? Well, as a matter of fact they do, they want as much suffering as possible for their people, so can they show world how bad their situation is, while it could've been MUCH MUCH better had they neglected their terrorist ways, and used aid money to actually benefit their people.

But, if you show children crying and women screaming, then you get more money from the world. And when Palestinian leaders get the world's money what do you think they do with it? Help their people...
pfffffffff No way, they put like 90% of it in their personal secret bank accounts in France and Switzerland, don't you wonder where their late leader Yasser Arafat got all of his money from (hint: your tax money).
When Arafat died the Palestinian authority tried to get its hands on the money, Arafat's widow (who loves her people so much, thus living in a luxury home in Paris) battled them for the last penny. I mean, sure she wants to help her people, but not with the money she and her husband stole from them.
