Pak helped US avert terrorist attack on ‘9/11 anniversary’

[ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Abdullah Husain Haroon, claimed in an interview with an American television network that Pakistan had helped the United States in averting a terrorist attack on the 10th anniversary of 9/11.

“Do you know why in New York, why nothing happened (this year) on Sept.11 because Pakistan helped the US capture three terrorists,” he asked in the interview and then revealed: “You gave us a list of three people, “help us find them,” you said. We went out of our way and did find them.

“The White House said fantastic, we have the people that could have harmed us and, by God’s grace, nothing happened. Three key people were handed over on the 5th of September.”

Haroon then asked, “Were the people told in America that the reason that New York is safe is because Pakistan helped us capture these people.”

He told Pamela Falk of CBS News that Pakistan was being made a “scapegoat” which amounted to victimisation of Pakistan.

Why don't we hear these claims in the Western media and yet when Mullen says something it is regarded as infallible truth?

I personally defended Pakistan from an Indian terrorist attack. No I can't tell you about the details, but their government was very thankful.

We're even now btw

Bad news sells. Or rather doing what you're supposed to be doing doesn't sell. It's like saying "I pay child support" You're supposed to you dummy nothing to brag or make news about.

I recall there being a credible threat at the time but never heard anything about anyone being captured, and the OP's link provides absolutely no further information.

Frankly Green Bean most of here in the US think we are getting played by Pakistan in order to milk us out of billions of dollars in aid a year. You have an extremely scary country-one that has shared nuclear weapon secrets with such wackjobs as North Korea, for example-and who knows what they are doing with Iran.

If Pakistand started acting like a real ally-or even just a neutral party-the US's attitude would change drastically. Right now, for ample reason, there is little or no trust.

Was this before or after they gave the Chinese access to our downed helicopter?

Fuck Pakistan.

For the record, while little or no trust does not help, it's not enough to go to war. With this post you hope to show us that you're 'with' us on the 'War on Terror', but I fear that's only as much as our money provides. You do enough to secure our funding, not enough to truly be on our side.

Your country is divided, and the government is weak or faltering to extremists from tribal areas. This really wouldn't be any of our buisness except for September 11th, the terrorists from Afghanistan flee into Pakistan, including OBL, and you're nuclear.

Remove one of those items and our interest greatly wanes.

Look, I appreciate the effort you took to say what you did, but unless we're attacked again I'm firmly AGAINST further military action. Hell, I'm all for leaving Afghanistan to you. I'm for leaving the whole region and letting you guys figure out your own !@#$. Though I would like to see you do that without our funding.

What Americans have to start to realize is that America does not give " aid " to very many countries.
What America does is pay protection money to the big boy on whatever block it happens to be passing through at the time.

There is .mil people here who will tell you the same thing.

Frankly, you are brainwashed by your military mantra. We are neither with you, nor against us. We are NOT on your side. The only reason why we support you is because it is best for our national interests. Now that the Americans have been defeated, we can start influencing everyone else with what we want. We are selfish--just like America.

Hardly the case. Most of those that do only support the Taliban because of American aggression. When forced to pick between two evils, people will generally pick the lesser one. Most people want very little to do with either.

Remove one of those items and our interest greatly wanes.
Well, you have been defeated and it's better to accept that. I remember your posts three years ago where you said you will kill each and every Taliban and their supporters. Fat chance of that happening. Also you must remember, that just because America has the military means of destroying the Earth x times over, does not mean they have the power to do it.

That makes much more sense that your claims of landing in my backyard and killing who ever does not agree with your values of "equality." Orwell was a genius-- "some are more equal than others."

So you complain about Americans taking what our military leaders say as fact, but it's okay when you take what you leaders say as fact.

Got it.

After the failed Times Square bombing, Obama went on record as saying that the gloves will come off if a successful one is traced back to Pakistan. It is in Pakistan's interests to eradicate the jihaditrons in it's midst. Somehow I get the feeling that the beloved patriot army just doesn't get it.
