Well it is a case that houses a piece of electronic hardware.:whiste:
I have an Emax POS(Point Of Sale not Piece Of Shit )pole display that I modded with a Matrix orbital VFD and I want to paint it black. I bought a couple of cans of Krylon Fusion Saton black spray paint and I was wondering if anyone has any tips on how to paint it. I have used rattle can paint before but never to paint a surface that is non flat (I am painting a pole with a stand with a box and a base, Basically)
So how do I go about this and make it look good?
Thanks
Here is a stock photo to show what I am working with

Spray very light coats and do a lot of them. Lightly sand in between each coat.
The biggest mistake people make is spraying too much or too close.
To help with the distance, get a stick or something and tape it so it sticks out from the can about 16" . That way when you are moving the can around and spraying you can use that to keep an even distance from the surfaces.

you could alternatively try some stains, if the post is made of unfinished metal. reduces the need for perfect coats.

I've had good results with krylon vinyl spray. The regular stuff tends to chip off when used on soft plastic surfaces.

You have a powder coating service nearby? You'd be surprised at how economical some of these places are and the finish is perfect. Most people never even check into prices but I was very pleasantly surprised when I needed some things to have a pro finish that was durable.

True. Also check auto body repair shops. When they paint cars they often have paint left over that gets thrown away and will spray something for you for free or just a few dollars.

Power Coating only works on metal doesn't it?

As the item needs to be negatively charged and the powder positively charged to get an even coat...... (or the other way round!)

static electricity charge, works on just about anything solid.

I saw a video from this powder coating outfit and they were doing it on Styrofoam cups. They put this chrome finish on one of the cups that actually looked like chrome. Pretty cool stuff.

I had some plastic vehicle interior parts powder coated dark grey recently and they turned out fabulous.
