I've heard of this technology being in development, even watched something about it on TV, where you could theoretically paint your wall and then cause images to form or some other weird stuff. Like watch TV on the wall... however google is not being very helpful in my finding more out about it

anyone have any good links about this weirdness?

Yeah, thats it! Nanoprobes. The US government developed them back in the 50's for espionage reasons. This way they could make an agent think he was going crazy.

I know that they've been messing around with LCD "paints" and wall panels. Those could be controller by a computer and made to display anything.

It was actually dubbed programmable matter, but now it is being called wellstone. It is based on a science fiction novel by Will McCarthy. However, there are researchers that are pursuing the idea of transforming a "semiconductor matrix into any one of an unimaginable range of materials." The IEEE Spectrum magazine mentioned this "technology" a few months ago.
