<To qualify for the $30 (in-box) manufacturer's mail-in rebate, you must be a previous user of Jasc Paint Shop Pro>

So, unless you own a previous version of PSP, final cost is $9.99. still, that's 90% off, which is a hot deal for good photo editing software.

Yeah, I saw this on Techb@rgains this morning. But I couldn't tell the difference between the first two Amazon MIR's...

It also allows for competitive upgrades. However, like bbkat, I couldn't tell the difference between the first two Amazon rebates. $9.99 is still a great deal for a good piece of software that I used to use when it was smaller and cheaper. 😀

If you follow the image link to the first two Amazon rebate forms, you'll see they are the exact same resource (aka file/URL).

So right now, it seems like a typo.

If it is not a typo, use the $10 off $75 coupon found somewhereon teh web to take care of the $9.99 left.

It's a pricing error. I contacted Amazon and they are working to correct it. ---- Don't order it as you'll NEVER get all the rebates.

Lets break it down:
Rebate #1: Mfg "upgrade" rebate. You must have a manual, cd or floppy to photocopy the front of in order to use it. Explicitly states "not combinable with ANY other rebate offer"

Rebate #2: Amazon "upgrade" rebate. States you must include the same as #1, PLUS include the rebate upgrade certificate of #1

Rebate #3: Linked to the same URL and rebate form as rebate #2.... Duplicate... Useless.

Rebate #4: Amazon "sale" rebate. Accepts photocopies of UPC, etc..

Therefore, here are the "REAL" options:

NEW owner:
$30 back: Submit rebate #4. Only valid offer

Previous owner (Upgrade):
$60 back: Submit rebate #1 or #2, then submit #4

Therefore, the net cost of this item is actually $39.99 if you upgrade, $69.99 if you don't.

Actually last month this item was $79.99 + $30 mail in MFG "upgrade" rebate = $49.99. Therefore this IS a better deal either way, but no way in hell are you getting $20 back out of the deal.

Good luck to all of those that ordered to bring it up to #8 in Amazon sales today.

Well, if you're going to buy it.....

It's great software, much simpler and easier to use than PhotoShop, especially for those who aren't super quick at learning computer stuff.

Also requires much less of a computer (CPU/Vid/Mem) and Photoshop.

True, it's fairly limited, but most people just want to resize or cut/paste images.

My $.02

Souka, have you tried Photoshop Elements? I stayed away from Photoshop because of the price until Photoshop elements came out and finally dropped down to <= $50 with rebates. I had used Paintshop (currrent version 7.04) previously and will never go back. I found Paintshop MUCH easier to learn how to do things beyond the basics and about the same for the basics.

If you are going to lay out $100 upfront at Amazon, you can save an addtional $10. GiftCertificates.com is giving away a $10 emailable SuperCertificate with the purchase of a $75 certificate for new customers with coupon code. Buy the $75 SuperCertificate - get the $10 SuperCertificate. Excercise both SuperCertificates ($85) and add $15 more to get the $100 Amazon emailable Giftcertificate. Now you have $100 worth of Amazon purchasing power for $90. This deal is only valid through Feb 27th.

You can demo Adobe Photoshop Elements for Free from Adobe. Also, you can buy it for FREE at Amazon right now. I ordered mine today -- three rebates. 2 are upgrades, but several other photo software products qualify. Look Here at AnandTech 🙂

MrVw - go to fat wallet.com hot deals andsearch for amazon

Also, I think you can get 3 $30 rebates on the Paint Shop Pro software. 1 AND 2 are NOT the same. 2 calls for a copy of the UPC and a copy of the manufacturer's rebate and is from Amazon. Also the Amazon rebate is managed by rebatestatus.com and the Manufacturer's by wheresmyrebate.com. The last one from Amazon is also different. What is confusing is that the description of the manufacturer's rebate says:

<< Upgrade to Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7.0 and receive a $30 (in-box) manufacturer's mail-in rebate. You must be a previous user of Adobe PhotoDeluxe, Photoshop, Photoshop LE, Photoshop Elements, ArcSoft PhotoStudio, Canon Photo Gold, Corel Photo-Paint, Corel Photo-Paint Digital Camera Edition, CorelDRAW, Painter, Painter Classic, Deneba Canvas, Canvas SE, Macromedia Fireworks, MGI PhotoSuite, Micrografx iGrafx Designer, Picture Publisher, Microsoft PhotoDraw, Picture It!, Ulead PhotoImpact, GIF Animator, or PhotoExpress to qualify.
To qualify for the $30 (in-box) manufacturer's mail-in rebate, you must be a previous user of Jasc Paint Shop Pro. Rebate may not be combined with any other Paint Shop Pro offer.
>>

So, maybe it is $90 in rebates like the Adobe PhotoShop Elements promotion.

The last sentence frmo Amazon's description of the manufacturer's rebate seems to contradict the entire paragraph above. From Jasc's site, it looks like the first paragraph is the real upgrade deal that requires the original UPC. Proof of ownership of the various brands is stated to be "Include proof of ownership of competitive product listed above (such as electronic receipt, copyright page from owner?s manual, photocopy of diskette or CD-ROM). " If you do not have the software, just ask and maybe someone can send you a photocopy of a CD for a present.

I'm in. Couldn't find a $10 coupon. Used a $5/$35

Photoshop LE qualifys for both rebates. Here's a scan of the CD. -- Link deleted

You are soliciting fraud. That is no longer a scan of the CD. It is your ticket for a two week vacation from AnandTech Forums.

I see they removed rebate #3.... Now it's $9.99 after all rebates.

I still am concerned with the rebate #1 and #2's wording about combing them... therefore YMMV.

Good luck

I am not uncomfortablea with the 3 rebates. What I want to know is "Is this better than, comparable to, or worse than Adobe PhotoShop Elements v. 1.0 that is also Free after rebates?" I have already ordered Adobe Elemnets and am thinking abut doing this one too. I am probably going ovverbaord since this would give me about 5 photo editing software programs on my computer (PictureIt, MHI PhotoSuite, Some Epson program that came with teh 785EXP Printer, Adobe and then this one).

Don't Forget -- if you have AmexBlue, you can price match this to a cheaper place like This Link for $79.99 and it is more than free to buy the software 🙂

DealLurker,

You did not read very carefully.

Rebate #1: States that their rebate is not combinable with any other manufacturers rebate. JASC will only honor one rebate for their product. That has NOTHING to do with whether Amazon will honor another rebate. I have about 3 qualifying products for this rebate.

Rebate #2 and #3: Identical. Calls for a copy of the receipt, UPC code, rebate form, and proof of ownership of a qualifying product. Easily done. It does NOT say you have to include the original rebate cert. Read it again.

Rebate #4: Once again, copies of everything.

Without combining any other instant coupons, the deal stands at $9.99 shipped after rebates.

I think this is an excellent deal. I am an owner of Paintshop Pro 6, Adobe Photoshop 6, and Macromedia Fireworks.

I use each program for different uses but honestly my workhorse is Paintshop Pro. It is extremely powerful for it's price and has been recognized as an outstanding product in its class for years. It's no nearly the memory hog that Adobe products are so I use it when I'm doing basic touchups of photos or scanning in images. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this product for the price.

Aha! Amazon responded... It's STILL messed up. They confirmed there should only be ONE Amazon rebate left, not two. The MFG's rebate invalidates the Amazon UPGRADE rebate, but not the Amazon "publishing discount" rebate.

Therefore your net cost is $39.99 period... Not $9.99. Here's their email response:

Thanks for writing to us at Amazon.com with your concern.

I've checked our web site regarding the concerned problem and can assure
you that this problem will be fixed soon.

Please allow me to explain, actually the rebate offered on "Jasc Paint
Shop Pro 7.0 Anniversary Edition" is:

- Upgrade to Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7.0 Anniversary Edition and receive a
$30 (in-box) manufacturer's mail-in rebate.

- $30.00 off from Amazon.com.

But the current problem with this item is:

- The manufacturer's rebate is valid. But there should only be one $30
Amazon.com rebate, not two.

However, please note, it should be the manufacturer's rebate plus our
rebate will equal the correct final price of $39.99.

We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused. I hope this
information helps clear up any confusion, and thank you again for
contacting us at Amazon.com.

Best regards,

Vineet Gulati

Thanks for the legwork DealLurker.

That's called Bait and Switch and it's illegal. Those knuckleheads. I'm just too lazy to litigate. I cancelled my order in time before it was shipped. Shwew!

PS Pro 7 is a nice program but I don't need it if it's going to cost me $40.

DAMN THEM...

They were right... They yanked another rebate off last nite. Now it's only showing 2 rebates = $39.99

STUPID ME... I did place an order hoping they were wrong (and would offer all 3 rebates as the other poster suggested). And I didn't save a printout of the item page showing $9.99 (and promptly overwrote the cache this morning bringing it back up).

Anyone have a printout of that page? I'm sure I will have problems and that will be my only proof.

They just changed the Adobe Photo Elements rebates too. It was $10 after rebates, they yanked a rebate and now it's $40 after rebates.

This deal sure went south quick. I really wanted PSP too.

Costco has Paint Shop Pro 7.0 Anniversary for $59.99 ($79.99 minus a $20 COSTCO rebate). Costco link If you qualify for the $30 JASC upgrade rebate, that would bring the price down to $29.99.

WebDude

Well, I just cancelled my order...it hadn't shipped yet....

Here is their condesending response to my latest question. (I had emailed them when they had the FOUR rebates up and then they reduced it to 3, so I ordered even though I thought it was a long shot, but based upon the comments here seemed like perhaps it was valid. I posted that response up a little bit in this thread. Now they responded claiming that THAT response was in correcting from 3 to 2 rebates (not from 4 to 3) and that they're implying it was my fault for thinking they were all valid)

GRRRR...... AMAZON sucks as bad as STAPLES... I refuse to order from Staples any longer and now likely will do the same with Amazon.

Here's their latest response:

Thank you for writing back to us at Amazon.com.

Please be assured that we understand the confusion that this matter has
caused.

However, I have reviewed our previous correspondence and your order.
Please understand that the information provided in our last message
correctly represents our policy at this time. While I do apologize for
any inconvenience, as previously stated, we can only honor 4one Amazon.com
$30.00 rebate for the Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7.0 Anniversary Edition.

Please note, if you would like to cancel your order, you can do so as long
as it has not entered the shipping process. You can cancel your order
through the "You Account" link on our website.

Thank you for your understanding. We hope to see you again at Amazon.com.

If anyone is interested, I have the printout of the offering for the 4 rebates for $120 off. However I doubt that they would accept that, but hey its worth a try. You can email me at zippz@hawaii.rr.com for the printout

I use Paint Shop Pro 6 and love the program. It does everything I need it to do and has features, such as vector drawings, that Photoshop doesn't have. Its also lots cheaper, especially at $-20!
