Painkiller Black+Steam Can't play!

On Win 7 64
Downloaded Steam on second home computer and Painkiller Black. I'm fairly new to Steam. Painkiller now just crashes to desktop with message "Painkiller has stopped working". Ran Gold ed from multiple CD install awhile ago on same computer and worked fine...for awhile. Now cannot play past second save in Catacomb level.

I do get a message to install Game Spy Arcade every time I start Painkiller, and I always decline because I do not play on line games. I have no idea if this has something to do with game crashing or not?

I did follow a suggestion to limit CPU usage to 0 in PK exe., but that makes no difference.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

hmmm...wish I could help, I have had no issues running it on Win 7 64. Did you check the Steam forums?

edit: Just checked their forums. No help on the issue.

second edit: do you have multiple monitors? If so, you will need to disable them. Apparently games doesn't like more than one monitor.

third edit: you can install GameArcade, then "remove" it and the message should go away.
