Pain

What is the most painfull thing that has ever happened to you guys. Mine is either having my appendics busrt without any pain killers and having my tooth put back in for the seccond time in about an hour with out pain killers. The latter I almost passed out and the former my entire body went ridgid. So any of you guys have worce experiences?

i had a shot in my knee, some of that cortisone stuff, extremely painful going in . it did make my knee feel better for about one month, but i will NEVER get another shot in a joint like that :frown:

nothing drastic (thank goodness) crushed my pinkie with a 1 1/4 pipe. got to stay home for 6 weeks from work (paid). exquisite pain.

i was recovering from a sprained ankle while preparing for a basketball tournament.

right before the tournament i sprained the same ankle 🙁

hurt like a motha. that's the worst pain i've felt recently.

My divorce was unforseen, that was painful. 🙁

The worst pain i felt was when i had the bandage ripped off my leg, that was there from 3rd degree burn.

It was a mesh type banadage, and the flesh/scab was growing into it.

The nurse warned me,thank God;that she was very sorry, but, that i was going to prob yell.

I did,and shed a few tears.

Second was prob when i had a boil on my buttocks, and the doctor had to "lance" it,and squeeze
the poisen/pus out,he had to do this every other day for a week, and all but the last time I yelled,
but,no tears.

When i broke my foot I just said Oh sheiit, and my co-worker said i turned white as a tee shirt.

My Mom said i Cried when i was born,
{it was cold i remember that 😉}
🙂

getting the vapors from icy hot travel up my boxers and onto my jewels. Felt like my sack was on fire. Not fun at all.

Also, the time when I tripped while ravine jumping, fell 10 feet and landed on my elbow in a slate-bottomed stream; hit my elbow hard enough to split it open.

Nothing real bad, actually. I know a guy who tore his knee to pieces skiing, and had the bones sticking out and had to be carries down the mountain with no painkillers or anything, having his knee twisted and ripped again and again. That must have been brutal.

ridding my bike when i was like 10 - 11. Heading for a fence and the brakes not working, so i tried to push my self off the back of the bike.

The bike hit the fence, just as i was off the back and the momentium kept me going into the hard plastic seat after the bike had hit the fence @ ~10 mph i'd say. My midsection was at seat height. I was down for about 20 minutes.

Most painful experiences:

1. Jaw broken (left jab), split brow, eye swollen shut, busted lip, and a bruised thigh (kick boxing).
2. Cracked ribs (took eight months to heal.. kept re-breaking them in my sleep)
3. Crashed my NASCAR-sanctioned Hobby Stock prepped Camaro at 85mph (pushed by an idiot who can't drive) into a retaining wall and then got smacked by another Camaro going 85mph.
4. Fell off a skateboard ramp (22ft with 8ft of vert) while dropping in (trucks were loose) and landed flat on my face.
5. Skateboarding at a skateboard park and came out of a swimming pool into another pool and landed on my left knee.. Tore the skin off my knee. Healed too fast and had to tear off the bandages and scab. Had to pour peroxide into the wound and use q-tips to remove pieces of asphalt.
6. TMJ (from broken jaw.. muscles ache so bad at times I pass out)
7. Busted head, torn scalp.
8. Root Canal (pain killer didn't completely kill the pain)
9. Boil on left thigh near hip. Doctor wanted to lance it, I said, "I'll be back tomorrow. You'll see what I mean." The next day I returned and he said, "You lanced it?" I replied, "With both thumbs and some paper towels." He laughed and said, "I know that hurt. Looks good. No need to lance it now."
10. Having my shoulder dislocated (when I was a kid)...

I have never had any *really* painful experiences. If anything, I think that I have suffered more emotional pain than physical pain.

In a car t-boned by a semi at 55 hurt pretty bad in most places really

i had a really huge really deep splinter in my thigh as a kid that hurt really bad and eventually required the emergency room to remove after my family poked and prodded trying for an hour 😀

earlier this year i was sick with something and eventually walking or anything that would cause a little quivering of the ol' belly hurt trememdously bad for a week or so..........driving was sheer hell....probably should have went to the dr then

I tore my pancreas once, this released some digestive enzymes into my blood stream, I was digesting myself from the inside out, hurt a ton

A severely pulled muscle in my back. It basically felt like the actual muscle was being torn from my body while it was on fire. The spasms were so damn hard and painful I dropped to my knees and couldn't move. The first and only time I've ever been brought to my knees from pain too.

I've led a sheltered life so the worst pain I've ever had is a toss-up between getting my wisdom teeth removed and when my brother pulled me leg and held it while I fell in the opposite direction. All I remember is feeling this rip in my foot and I haven't been better since. I went to the doctor the day after and I tore the tendons in my joint between my foot and leg. I still can't run without it hurting.

While I was pretty much the most sober (and least belligerent) in the place, someone decided to bust a bottle of bourbon over my head during the middle of a brawl. Glass shards making a cut, and then having fairly concentrated alcohol poured into it was *slightly* painful. From what I later saw of the handle, I'm fairly sure it was Wild Turkey, though I dont know if it was 80 or 101 proof.

But, OTOH, payback was a b!tch for the guy who swung the bottle. It just took me a while to shake it off, and for my friend to get him on the ground.

cutting off the tip of my thumb and a little thumbnail with it. thumping and throbbing for days, but nothing unbearable.

bruised back was pretty bad also. playing football in the parking lot(stupid) after work, i stretched out for a pass(stupid). i tripped, skipped once on the asphalt, slammed my lower back into a light post, which was also the goal line. TD!!

but the worst was throwing out my hip. i have no idea how i did it, as i didnt do anything strenuous one day, and was worthless the next. i could only put weight on my left leg when it was in a natural standing position. i couldnt bend it when walking or bend over far enough or lift my foot to put on my socks, shoes, anything. the next day i could walk the hip being a little more loose. the third day i could put on socks and such. by the forth day it was only a little sore. all was back to normal on the fifth day. this has happened twice in the past 2.5 months.

haha, i just remembered i was hit in the eye with a racquet ball also. that HURT. wow, im really not as stupid at this all sounds.

Broke my pinkie playing basketball
Broke several toes running into stuff
Got two teeth pulled to get braces. Haven't had my wisdom teeth removed, and Im not sure that I will have to.

A lot of that for me 🙁

But moving onto physical 😀

1) Fell out a tree and fell 30feet when I was 9, fractured both legs and pulled ligaments in my left knee (That hurt like hell). I was attempting to build a tree house, with 2 planks of wood, some tacks, and a hammer 😕 Luckily, the branches brok emost my fall, and my legs took the damage 🙂

2) Punched a guy in the face, cracked 3 or 4 of his front teeth in 2, dislocated his jaw, and broke his nose (He called my mum a "c word") which at the time I had a few and wasnt too impressed with... Anyway, i didnt realise one of his teeth went into my knuckle, joint got infected, had to go hospital and have op on joint. The thing that hurt about this was they had to leave the cut open to make sure the bone was healing properly when they checked a week later. Of course, they took the bandage off to reveal the open joint and I could see my tendant with stitches in, and the discoloured bone, I passed out with the agony of them prodding around the bone while I watched 🙁 (Wasnt under any anesthetic at all.)

3) Bitten by a German Shepard, which at the time, was twice the size of me (I was about 11/12). It went for my neck I put my right arm up to stop it and it latched onto my arm, ripped a 4 inch gash into my right arm, hurt like hell but again the thing that made me feel worst was seeing my elbow. My elbow was fine, just skin and muscle damage (Apparently the elbow is strongest bone in body, I was like, yeah, ok, arm hurts, arm hurts...).

Those would be the most painful things ive felt. For each one ive never cried, ive passed out but never cried. Ive cried from emotional pain plenty though.

I cut a bit of the tip off my pinky before, and it really wasnt all that bad. It was kinda hanging on by a small flap of skin (though the flesh above the cut eventually died due to lack of blood flow). It did bleed like a mofo, and to this day the whorls on my pinky are sort of offset due to the accident. The lesson to be learned: never handle a knife around stupid people that will bump into you.

EDIT: when this happened my dad was more pissed about me bleeding all over (and I was outside!) than worried over me removing a fair amount of flesh from my finger.

Every 3-6 months I get cortisone shots (read: more than one) in the joints in my hands. Liquid fire. The temporary pain is better than the everyday pain I otherwise go through from arthritis though, where I can't walk and can't close my hands into fists.

You've got arthritis already? Aren't you still in college?

Graduated in June. I've had it since I was 17. Rheumatoid arthritis usually is diagnosed between ages 25 and 55.

Ah, sorry to hear that. 🙁

Think of it this way though, at least you had 17 relatively pain free years (apart from normal bumps, bruises, etc...). I've had to put up with pain for my entire life and after all this time it's really starting to get old.

in order of worst to lightest amount of pain:

1. migraine headaches (have been on demerol in the hospital for them, doesn't do anything)
2. spinal tap -> they kept hitting the god damn vertabares(sp?) instead of the space between them, no pain meds and you can't move, just lay there and sweat from pain....
3. broke both bones in arm -> obviously i can't roller blade. i honestly thought breaking bones would hurt a lot more... wasn't that bad
