I was hoping to see a doctor about this, but no one has open spots today. It's also Friday, so I'm mostly out of luck for the next couple days. I'd have to go to the ER for more a more immediate look, but I don't think this is ER worthy.
Anyway, there's this strong pain near the lower part of my left rib. Rather, it feels like it behind the rib. I'd say it's maybe a fist sized section that starts directly under my left breast. If I poke around with just one finger, it feels as though it's a rather small area. It started yesterday afternoon/evening and has progressively gotten worse. It got much worse overnight.
When sitting completely still, it's barely noticeable (if at all). However, I can feel it when moving (in almost any way that might involve my torso), and quick movements can be much more painful. Coughing makes it almost feel like I'm being punched sharply in that area. It also hurts quite a bit at the tail end of a deeper breath or if I try to blow my nose with any force. It's also sore if I push on that area.
I've had a cold/cough of some sort the past week or so. Scratchy throat, congestion, cough (with plenty of mucus), some sneezing, and a slightly runny nose. The cough has been the worst part of it by far.
I took some ibuprofen about an hour ago, and it's definitely much easier to manage now.
I'm still hoping to get it checked out, but I'm wondering if it's just a bruised rib or something from all the heavy coughing. If that's the case, I know all I can really do is take more ibuprofen and wait it out. I'm just wondering if anyone else has thoughts on this.
