Pain in shoulder when doing overhead press

So I've kind of had pain in the front of my left shoulder, the front part specifically for awhile when lifting heavy. I've had this for a long time AFAIK, it may be some old injury from when I was a kid but I remember it being there when I started bench pressing. Its never been to bad, but I'm becoming a little more concerned about it lately since a shoulder injury would pretty much hose my goals.

The pain only seems to be in the front part of my left (non dominate) shoulder. Its kind of a "twinge" and maybe you could describe it as it feels "weak". I still have it some today, after lifting last night...it usually fades in about a day. It only really is noticeable when I lift my arm above my head. I recently started doing overhead BB press and I really notice it during that exercise. I also notice it during bench but its pretty mild there.

My question I guess is what should I do from here? My tiny amount of research seems to suggest rotator cuff? I was hoping to increase my shoulder strength, but I REALLY don't want to hurt my shoulder badly. Should I go with a lighter weight here to be safe? Change exercises?

It could be a lot of different things - torn labrum, tendinitis, shoulder impingement, rotator cuff weakness. Go see an orthopedist/orthopedic surgeon. Only they can really tell you what's wrong. I tried to ignore something similar to this and it ended up costing me all my strength gains, about 8 months, and several hundred dollar in physical therapy fees. Go to the orthopedist, ask how you can fix it, and if you have to, go to a physical therapist to see what general exercises you can do to remedy it. It will save you a lot of time and money in the long run. Also, stop the overhead press until you go see a doctor. Start some rotator cuff exercises (google 'em) and be gentle with it.
