Recently I joined gym and the trainer made me do Normal Crunches of Two sets(15 each) on the second day itself.

I have noticeable belly.

The problem is that there is pain in rib cage now(sore pain or something as they say).

My question is - Should I continue doing crunches after it gets healed(like it did after 4 days when I did it randomly with friends, long back) or go see a doctor?

I would wait it out and see how its healing. If crunches continually give you pain then you can just leave out that exercise. Later in life you can start again. There are plenty of exercises that will exercise your core. Crunches arent the only exercise for your abs so feel free to leave them out for a while if need be.

If your back is in flexion most of the day (which most people are - sitting, etc..) you probably don't want to be doing crunches anyway.

A elitejp says; there are plenty of other ab building exercises like planks that would be much better for you.

In my opinion (and my sports rehab doc and PT) you don't need crunches in your routine at all. Your back gets plenty of flexion throughout the day. If you insist on doing them make sure you are putting your back in extension afterwards (press up stretches) to re-align the discs in your back.
