About 2-3 months ago (don't remember exactly when) I fell twice while skating and landed on my right hand. At the time I didn't feel like it was anything serious but it's been weeks since then and I still feel pain when trying to do certain movements on that hand. Trying to squeeze certain things hurts and push-ups are almost non-existent. I really need to get my upper body training going and my preferred work out at the moment are push-ups.

Anyone had pain like this before? Does it heal on it's own over time or could it be a fracture or nerve damage?

Yes, I had that for years. I wound up buying Perfect Pushups and I was able to do pushups using them. I can now do pushups without using them, no idea what was wrong with me back then.

I'll look into the perfect pushups, wonder if I can find it on CL for cheap.

When you had that pain were you able to lift? I'm hoping to start getting back into the gym maybe once a week to lift. (either that or buying a set of dumbbells)

Can you do pushups on your fists? Plush carpeting helps with this as do those rubbery floor mats. This might let you continue with your preferred workouts while alleviating the direct pressure on your palm.

That's a great idea as well, I have hard wood floors but maybe I can find something to cushion my fists.

I wasn't lifting then, sorry. But the yoga mat/exercise mat idea is good, too. My wife got me one of each, they both help a lot.

I always use a pair of dumbells to do pushups. Protects the wrist and allows you to go a little deeper.

(Also cheaper than having something specific for pushups... unless of course you have no dumbbells.)
