Paid off my school debt

Just sent my last payment. Buckled down for 8 months or so and sent 1k/month then 2k/month for a while. School debt is no more!

I want to buy a bottle of Crystal.

Congrats. As I have just recently "acquired" a significant amount of student debt from my SO, I know how it feels. Fortunately, I have no debt myself. $1500/mo payments for the next 5 years to pay it off are going to be unpleasant.

nice.

i pay like $175/mo and will for the next 10 years or so, but i consolidated at 2% so rushing to pay it off all at once isn't really worth it to me. plus $175/mo is nothing.

Good thing you got it paid off before the Republican's let the interest rate go back up.

My gf has no school debt, which would be beyond epic if we got married. That's a pretty hefty payment though, she better be a Dr.

Bastard...

I just finished my master's and they sent me a "balance of degree" fee for almost $4k.

Gotta pay that off by September (before interest kicks in) and then start paying for my new master's at $4500/year. FML.

She is... heheh... PhD in Medieval Poetry... heheh.

$1,500 a month is nuts, though. Debilitating monthly payments preventing you from fully participating in society are what refinancing is for.

That's her own payment schedule right? I haven't heard of any student loans that are on 5 year repayment.
