If you have Ti4200 64MB or any of the Ti series (for that matter, anything Ati was selling around that time), and are looking at playing the games that are coming out over the next year, it's definitely worth the upgrade. Especially for the fact that you are technically paying only around 80 bucks for the card, because the game would cost an honest person $50 when it comes out.

Plus, sell your existing video card to further lower your expense. Considering I've got a Ti200 to sell, and I was going to get HL2 anyway, I figure I'm only paying $40-50 to upgrade my video card from a Geforce3 Ti200 to a Radeon 9600 Pro. Sounds hot to me.

What's a better card to have? A 9500 softmodded to a 9700 or this 9600 pro?

Thanks in advance.

I went to 4 BB in So Cal and no luck.

Is anyone willing to Help a fellow ATer out?

For those of you who don't have a Fry's and are always envious of the Fry's deal, I can return the favor to whoever can help me out.

Thanks.

I got rerouted by traffic and stopped in East Brunswick, there were 2 on the shelf, now there is only one.

Both were 180339. The one I got was a 9600 Pro.

Thanks, OP. :)

Hey Treyrandom

Did you install the card yet.

I'm in the same boat as you, GeForce3 Ti200 and wondering if this is worth the upgrade?

It will definitely be worth the upgrade from a Geforce3. Especially with HL2 comboed with it. :)
HL2 is like $50, but there was a deal before where preorders could be had for $40.

I just picked the last one up from the BB at Potomac Yard shopping center on Route 1 (northern VA). It was the 9600 Pro in 9600 SE clothing!

S/N 180339 012XXX (on the card itself). But I saw no distinguishing marks on the box anywhere. Yes, it also had the coupon for HL2.

The guy said they may be getting more, but didn't know anything more. If someone is interested I can look around this area (3 more stores close by!).

The HL2 coupon, is that to redeem at the B&M store or is it a Mail in offer where they mail you the game?
Thanks.

Thanks.

You mail it in, they mail you the game. Or you can just download from the net.

I haven't installed it yet - been busy working. :( I might get to it this weekend. :)

At present, I don't have any issues with recent games with the Ti200. For example, I played Max Payne 2 at 1024 x 768 at the highest resolution settings. The only thing it didn't let me do was have mirrored reflections (a function the card just doesn't support, for some reason). However, the Ti200 won't last me forever, especially with the graphics intensive games coming out early next year. And, at present, this card is the best "bang for the buck", IMO. It should keep me going for another 2 or 3 years (as opposed to a few more months with the Ti200).

In short, although I haven't installed it yet, if you can find one, I'd recommend getting it.
