I'm soooo grateful for package tracking.

Pkg #1
Order confirmation received Nov 24 with delivery date Nov 29 listed. Shipping confirmation Nov 28 with delivery date Nov 29 8:30AM - 5PM through Hackbarth. Nothing happened on 29th and their tracking showed "attempt made but building closed." Closed my ass - I live in a house and was there all day. Nov 30. Waited all day. At 4:30 called and oops! somehow they forgot it and would send it right out - so sorry. Now their tracking has been changed to say

11/29/2011 07:32 Cartons [88752020010022] scanned at receiving TLH
11/29/2011 15:45 Shipment reached destination
11/29/2011 15:56 Shipment signed by 'a xxxxxxxx' [POD] (xxx'x are my name)
11/30/2011 09:08 Cartons [88752020010022] scanned at vehicle loading
11/30/2011 15:46 Cartons [88752020010022] scanned at delivery location

Notice how I supposedly signed for it the day before I got it and the "attempt made" has disappeared. So much for accurate tracking.

Shipping notice received by me on 29 Nov. Sent through DHL to USPS. Latest info says:

Out for Delivery, December 05, 2011, 9:42 am, JACKSONVILLE, FL 32207
Notice Left, December 05, 2011, 6:15 pm, JACKSONVILLE, FL 32207

which would be great if only I lived in Jacksonville.

Pkg #3
My shipping notice is Nov 30 through UPS Mail Innovations. Using the tracking link they sent I get:

"We're sorry - tracking information is not currently available. Please try again later."

This has not changed since Nov.30.

Pkg #4
Shipping notification Dec 2 UPS. Scheduled delivery date is tomorrow but the latest tracking info is:

Addison, IL, United States 12/03/2011 6:31 A.M. Departure Scan

Pkg #5
Shipping notification Dec 4 via UPS. Latest info:

Scheduled For Early Delivery On: Thursday, 12/08/2011

Finally! 1 out of 5 with good news or accurate or useful information.

Can't remember the last time shipping didn't suck, especially during the holidays.

I'd dial back that attitude in a hurry, allisolm. They're doing what they can there and YOU don't get to decide what gets tracked, how it's done, what the dates and times are, what packages are being broken, or anything. You can report it and request that they take it into consideration (and incidently the place to do that is NOT in ATOT which is for problems you're having with your personal account, but at www.ups.com.) But don't get all snippy because their thoughts and actions don't IMMEDIATELY completely agree with yours. UPS works really hard in the US to provide a safe place for transportations and succeed admirably without your snide comments and attitude.

Is packge #4 from Amazon with non prime shipping? If so, I think Amazon has this thing where they have a UPS truck go straight to it's destination center to be delivered instead of getting scanned in the UPS distribution center first.

I have had that happen before. PO seems to always try to find ways not to ship your package. Also, when they do ship it and no one is home, they sometime leave it at a neighbors house without permission.

Wow, I order almost 100% of everything online and simply don't have these kinds of issues at all.

Yeah, I'm fed-up with my PO(Central Square). Multiple times my package has sat in the delivery truck for more than a week or been delivered to a neighbor's house. And when you go into the PO or call them, no one wants to help you and pass you off to someone else.

Hahahaha....I have two post offices near. The East Cambridge and the Kendall Sq. one. When it goes the the East Cambridge one, I pray that my package will eventually reach my hands.

Usually I don't either. I must have done something to anger the shipping gods. These aren't from some fly by night companies either - Office Depot, Barnes & Noble & Amazon.

I have no doubt they will all arrive. It just seems pointless to have tracking when it doesn't track or they can change what happened after the fact. I suppose in a way it IS helpful to know that my one package was NOT actually delivered in the wrong city, but it doean't help my blood pressure any, that's for sure. :)

allisolm, get a private mailbox at the ups store and you never have to wait at home for any packages. they send me a text when my package arrives. then i pick up the package(s) whenever i want to.

OP, USPS DOES NOT provide "tracking" information. I laugh with scorn at anyone who claims that USPS provide any sort of useful tracking information. With the upcoming cuts at USPS things will only get worse.

Things will only go from bad to worse ...

Update:

Pkg #2 that was out for delivery in Jacksonville just showed up at my house yesterday. AFTER it arrived, the tracking was updated to show "Delivered" with nothing between the "delivery/notice left in Jacksonville" message and the "delivered Tallahassee" message. Somehow, when I read "You can track the status of this shipment online" that isn't what I have in mind - notification of delivery after I have it it hand.

I'd rather they just give me a time frame and forget the current BS tracking.

i ordered ram from newegg which was shipped DHL (some of the lighter items are).

tracking said it was delivered friday, but i didnt get it till yesterday or monday.

another time i ordered a USB stick or something light from newegg, also shipped DHL, and it sat around for like a week before it arrived, when just about any NE order from jersey shipped via UPS would arrive in 2-3days.

they probably have gps on the company owned trucks. the just don't let the customers have access to that information.

the company I work for does and they keep track of where the trucks are at all times for dispatch purposes and to make sure the techs are where they're suppose to be and not where they aren't, like a bar for lunch.

I havent had an issue with UPS or Fedex. But I laugh when something is sent via USPS. 100% of the time it will not have any tracking information for the package until after it has been delivered lmao.
