Pacific Assault too heavy for 6800GT?

Like WTH?? I get 25-30 FPS on 1280*1024....Highest settings 4AA and 4AF...Isnt that a bit too low?

Rest of my specs are
2.2GHZ barton
512 PC3200 Ram
WinXP

3D03 marks are 10500, and 05 4300...Aquamark 55000..
WTF?

Most likey it's being limited by your CPU......

The bartons are pretty lame.....

I'd try the card in a P4 3.2 or something, or AMD64

I just ordered that card, but I have P4 3.2 w/HT

I seriously doubt Pacific assult is too intensive for it

easy to say its the CPU...Time for an upgrade? 😛 :/ ..
3500+ winchester?

And When I bought the GT I was thinking Id be able to crank up the eyecandy to the fulles even on the newest of games....

Maybe two of them in SLI, but try running HL2 at that kind of setting and you'll get a nasty shock back to the real world. 😉

i do like to recommend my own parts, and this is no exception!:
[*]a athlon64 3200+ 90nm
[*]an asus a8v
[*]another 512 of the same type of ram you got!
[*]overclock it to like 2.5ghz

i run a rig similar to yours...barton at 2.2GHz, 6800GT, 1 gig pc3200 RAM... and HL2 @ 16x12, with all settings at High runs butter smooth. some games are coded better than others. Am waiting til next round of next-gen games to go 64bit. .....****EDIT meant to say that it was butter-smooth at 12x9, not 16x12...16x12 can drop to mid-twenties at times****

WTH? Isnt pacific assault supposed to be easier on your system than HL2?????

yeah i just built this rig...look at my sig...sandra says this thing slaps around 3.4ghz P4's in arithmetic, i'm not about to build a new rig. i'll be getting a 6800 in the next 2 weeks or so, but i don't think i'll be CPU limited in the least.

Pacific Assault is an extremely GPU limited game. I have a A64 3200 + 6800U system and I need to run it at 1280x960 to get good performance; 1600x1200 kills my card, often dipping to 30s and 40s.

GPU or CPU?? Cuz im running at the same res and getting 25-30 FPS...What sort of AA and AF? I mean arent the GT and ultra faily close performance wise?

6800's do dip a bit at higher resolutions, but that seems way to low...i'm pretty sure its your cpu/ram

ya but isnt a 2.2GHZ barton almost equal to a 3.0GHZ P4? And that cant handle this game? :/

hatim, to analyse this you need to post number at different resolutions and AA/AF settings, e.g. for 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, 1152x864, 1280x1024, 1600x1200 (even is obviously too slow).

The curve will flatten out where you are CPU bound, it will tell us a part of what is going on.

A 3500+ is still a 2.2 GHz CPU. Although faster due to other factors you will not raise your framerates in modern games. Don't do that without analysing the problem.

it's not the CPU.... I can't run MOH😛A smooth either on my A64 3200+, 6800GT... pisses me off. I run 4xaa 8xaf, but I read the 6800GT has a known AA flaw with this game, try googling it.

thats sad!! So I Itll run fine without AA?

Its not my hardware...This is Call of Duty... 4AA 16AF
Call Of Duty

Demo name: demobta00
800x600 not selected
1024x768 3.8 seconds: 202.6 fps
1280x1024 4.4 seconds: 175.1 fps
1600x1200 5.4 seconds: 141.1 fps

Equal to a B perhaps. A C/E will pull away thanks to dual channel memory.

dual channel mem, is the dual channel better on the P4 then on the Barton? I run dual channel with a barton 2.2ghz....

I disagree completely...

That 6800GT is a beast and 1280x1024 is nothing .

I have a 1700+@2.4 and I can EASILY run every game @ 1600x1200 ( 2- 4x AA )

The 512MB of ram could actually be hurting you believe it or not.
