This is old news but haven't seen it discussed with the focus on Trump collusion and the shutdown.

Tom Marino, an early Trump supporter, is leaving Congress for the private sector. Under PA law, the governor cannot name a replacement and his seat will remain vacant until a special election is held.

Any inkling as to why he resigned? Seems like he got a cushy job offer, but it's kinda odd to quit 20 days after starting a new term, no?

Usual revolving door, probably did some favors for someone, now going to cash in the bribe he couldn't take possession off while in office.
 
Lots of ways to speculate here, but non-nefarious things like an episode of serious mental illness outside of his control are possible.
 
Very odd. I would expect some news story to follow in a few. On his 5th term... Let's see $150K vice whatever influence he has as an ex-congress critter making $500k +........ Well, got to look out for oneself.
