I have Athlon XP1700+@1755MHz, running on A7N8X deluxe-Rev2 board with 512 MB Kingston DDRPC2700, in Antec Sonata case with default cooling.
Prime 95 torture test runs stable and temp tops at 49-50°C(MB Temp-32,CPU idle-42). But when I connect to internet, while running P95 in the back ground, P95 gives errors.
Can anybody throw some light?
Thanks in ADV.

When you say you "connect to internet" do you mean that you dial up and authenticate with your isp, browse to a website, or when you plug your cable into your switch? Try upping the voltage on your chip a touch.

by connecting to internet I mean dialing up via modemand authenticate with ISP.Even if I am already connected to the internet if I start running p95, it gives errors.
Voltage increase at which point?

are ur pci devices at a fixed speed of 33mhz?

if they are be overclocked as well it might be causing the errors.

AGP bus at 66MHz , that means PCI at 33 MHz is the setting I have selected in bios.

Which test/tests is it failing in Prime95? And which version of Prime are you running?

Why don't you try to run the same thing without OC? If it doesn't cause such problem w/o OC, then the problem is OCed CPU, so give more volatage or anything. If it still has the problem w/o OC, that might be the problem other than CPU, such as Windows registry messed up, connection program messed up, PCI cards are interrupt each other, and so on. So, I suggest you to run the same thing with stock running for every individual part.

it is normal for other apps to crash while running P95 ~ it means you are unstable ;)

A winmodem is ran by the cpu adding more stress when running Prime95, back off slightly or bump up the core voltage a tad.
