Should I update my Chipset with "Win8 32bit & Win8 64bit.(WHQL)" I know I have to update my bios for sure. Just built this week.

I also see an update for the Firmware, Wireless & SATA. My first build in years and lost for words. Help!.

chipset drivers and BIOS are different items... drivers are just small pieces of software installed within the operating systems (on the hard drive) and BIOS updates are small files that get "flashed" onto a chip that is either soldered or in a slot on the motherboard.

the best way to flash BIOS is with a flashing tool from a USB, but a lot of newer motherboards have the utilities built-in, making the process quick and easy. it is generally true that you should avoid flashing the BIOS from within the OS, but it is an alternative if you absolutely cannot flash from a USB or CD etc.

So as I see I will still need to do the Chip Set drive update. Would the likes of the Lan, Audio and Firmware ect also be a separate update. I always thought they were part of the BIOS update. I used to check the dates and if older than the BIOS I would think it way inclusive.

Again, what you're talking about are drivers for the operating system. The bios flash is a file that is written to the Eeprom (CMOS chip) of the mother board.

I wouldn't worry too much about changing or flashing the bios. Just go ahead & do the drivers for Windows. Install windows and then go to your device manager & see what drivers might need to be updated. I would have the network driver ready on a usb stick. Once it's loaded, you'll have access to the net for the rest.

As stated do the windows in stall also make sure you have the latest lan drivers on a USB stick. so after windows boots to the desk top install the Lan drivers so you can do updates to finish windows install. Then you add all drivers, such as sound chip set, etc.
If then you feel your having issue's you can flash the bios after an install, but if your not having issues and its working............

The updated chipset drivers are probably good to install. I assume you started with the chipset drivers from the DVD that came with the motherboard, yes? I used to have that board, and I seem to remember that the newer chipset drivers improved USB 3.0 support.

The Asus BIOS firmware seems to improve with each new version as they fix bugs, so that's probably worth doing, too. If you installed AI Suite from the DVD, you can update the firmware from Windows by downloading the new one, unzipping it, then pointing the AI Suite utility to the .CAP file. The "Update over the Web" option never works for me, so I do the download.

The LAN, audio, etc. drivers are all separate downloads, and are totally optional unless you want the latest and greatest.
